Anyone see the Wisconsin focus group on CSPAN? |
|
Totally made up of Wisconsin women. It was more balanced than the Missouri focus group from before the debates, but there are still way too many Kool-aid drinkers. Especially the lady who said it wouldn't be worth it to do stem cell research because it would "take too long" to develop cures. That was mind-boggling to me.

1. Heh, she should listen to one of her gods, Glenn Beck |
|
"Your ballot is not a lottery ticket!"
Hmm, wonder how long she would have waited for the Polio vaccine. "It's not ready yet? Forget it!"

2. Too long to develop cures? |
|
Longer than what? That's the dumbest statement I've heard from one of my fellow Wisconsinites in some time. Oh, wait, Tommy Tompson just said "there's no crisis, nothing to see here..."
Ohhhhhh Caaaaaaaaaanada....

3. Man summing up said that no Gore voters going for Bush. but 1 Bush loss |
|
I watched a few of the Kool-Aid drinkers before turning off TV in disgust, but later I caught the roundup of men summarizing results and I felt better when one of them said that none of the Gore voters are switching to Bush this year but one that voted Bush last time is voting for Kerry this time and another might go for Kerry also.

4. Yes, I saw some of it. Very depressing. |

:( The one who killed me was a Bush voter. They were asked, "If your child was held hostage by terroists in his/her school, who would YOU want to be the prez at the time?" That broad, Bush voter, said she would rather have Kerry as prez because if it was HER child she would want a prez who was more level headed and willing to negotiate. She thought JK would be more apt to do that. :grr: It's OK for Bush to kill OTHER people's kids in Iraq, but if it's HER child, she wants JK as prez. Damn, that pissed me off. She is a TRUE MEPUBLICAN.

5. I watched it last night and was blown away |
|
by the response to the 'hostage' question. More than midway through the exercise, Peter Hart asked the women who they would want in charge if their child plus ten other children had been taken hostage by terrorists? Suddenly John Kerry got very popular!!!
Even the ringleader of the Bushistas opined that her fearless leader may well get her kid killed and she trusted Kerry to sort out the situation and save her child. I almost fell off my chair. When it came down to their child, the God, Guns and Gays thing wasn't in play. To be fair, some couldn't bring themselves to say "Kerry" so they said Edwards instead, but they didn't say Bush.
The Kerry camp should get this into the stump speech. Kerry can pose the question himself. Who do they really want protecting THEM? When the chips are down close to home, it seems to be Kerry.

7. They will recite the talking points in public, but |
|
will they vote against protecting their children in the privacy of the voting booth?

16. They are Repugs, so yes, they will. |
|
They know their child's safety is pretty much assured. The chances of the terrorist scenario are miniscule for them. So, they'll vote wingnut ideology every time.

20. History shows that your blanket statement is wrong. |
|
The assertion that all Republicans always vote Republican is, well, wrong. Laughably wrong, in fact.

We're not ALL that stupid here in Wisconsin!!! :eyes:
I haven't seen this yet - does anyone know if it's going to be replayed? I'll run and check the CSPAN site, but oftentimes they don't have the specific listings until the last minute.
TIA :hi:
edited to add, OK, so maybe we are all stupid! I just turned on CSPAN, to see what was airing, and heard a WI caller on the replay of Washington Journal. She actually said that she doesn't think that we should vote for Kerry because 'January will be really, really busy, and it would take too much time if people had to move into new offices and try to get all organized and everything...' WHAT ABOUT THE FACT THAT YOUR pRESIDENT SPENDS THE MAJORITY OF HIS TIME ON VACATION, YOU DUMB FUCK!!!x(
edited again - the video is available to watch at CSPAN if you have a decent connection...

11. Good luck! The C-SPAN website it awful when |
|
it comes to schedules. I can never figure it out. It's well worth a look, if you can find it again and stay tuned for the reporters reactions...they go to a break and come back after about 5 minutes.
You'll be pleased to find a couple of solid Kerry supporters who, surprise, surprise, have cornered the market on brains compared to their repug counterparts.

14. I'm sure it will repeat. I saw some of it again this morning. |
|
The bad thing about C-SPAN is you never know when they will repeat things. I'm SURE it will be on sometime today. If I see it come on I'll post a thread. :hi:
Vote_Clark, Whatever happened with the power outage investigation? Do you know?

13. I saw that and was astonished at how unrepresentative of |
|
American women it was. There was one black woman, and a whole slew of professional and married to professionals white women. Sometimes I think these polls and focus groups only sample middle and upper middle class people.

15. this group was much more informed than the one in the primaries |
|
did anyone see that, C-span showed a focus group of twelve democrats, in late summer 2003, most of whom could not recognize a SINGLE candidate from their pictures. Two or three recognized Sharpton and/or Lieberman, but that was it.
In this Wisconsin group, I was not at all surprised by the two or three mindless Bush supporters, and I was blown away by some of the Kerry supporters. Maria and Tricia in particular.
And a really good sign was the pro-choice nursing student who voted for Bush in 2000, but now is voting for Kerry. Asked why she voted for Bush last time, she said she thinks she was "hoaxed." :toast:

19. Kerry should pick it up... |
|
what about a commercial asking the same question: if YOUR child was in danger, who would you trust?
Anything that people can relate to in a practical way rather than abstract ideology will play in Kerry's favor...
