Cheney: Terrorists May Bomb U.S. Cities
By ANDREW WELSH-HUGGINS, Associated Press Writer
CARROLL, Ohio - Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) on Tuesday evoked the possibility of terrorists bombing U.S. cities with nuclear weapons and questioned whether Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) could combat such a threat, which the vice president called a concept "you've got to get your mind around."
"The biggest threat we face now as a nation is the possibility of terrorists ending up in the middle of one of our cities with deadlier weapons than have ever before been used against us — biological agents or a nuclear weapon or a chemical weapon of some kind to be able to threaten the lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans," Cheney said.
"That's the ultimate threat. For us to have a strategy that's capable of defeating that threat, you've got to get your mind around that concept," Cheney said.
(snip... Regarding whether Kerry would be "tough and aggressive...) "I don't believe it," the vice president said. "I don't think there's any evidence to support the proposition that he would, in fact, do it." http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=694&ncid=696&e=1&u=/ap/20041019/ap_on_el_pr/cheneyHey DICK!! You're the incumbents -- what are YOU doing? Where is YOUR plan?!? Here's a report from a few days ago on how YOU are doing, Dick: http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2004-10-13-us-port-security_x.htmPosted 10/13/2004 6:48 PM Today's Top News Stories
Internal report takes aim at port security efforts WASHINGTON (AP) — The Homeland Security Department's independent investigator has concluded that federal inspectors of oceangoing shipping containers still need to improve their detection equipment and search procedures to prevent terrorists from sneaking weapons of mass destruction into U.S. ports.
(snip) "Improvements are needed in the inspection process to ensure that weapons of mass destruction or other implements of terror do not gain access to the U.S through oceangoing cargo containers," Ervin wrote. Democrats have been urging action on this since BEFORE 9/11, Dick, and even after those attacks and four years of "alerts," you haven't done the job. Read Kerry's plan on port security, airline security, chem/nuke facilities, bioterrorism, etc., and get back to us, DICK.http://www.johnkerry.com/issues/homeland_security/homeland_plan.htmlhttp://www.johnkerry.com/issues/homeland_security/

5. No shit. Its pretty much the same plan as they had on 9/11 |
|
The Bush plan of action for a disaster of this scale...
Sit on their asses, hide, address the nation, emerge several days later to be applauded for their "leadership".
The same shit happened to us on 9/11. Their only plan is to save their own asses and then to exploit the shit out of the tragedy.

And they have the unmitigated gaul to attack Kerry as incompetent, while they practically celebrate 9/11 as a campaign issue.

never mind it's failed every test. Never mind that physicists and engineers alike say it's completely unworkable. It's being deployed right now, and BushCo has FAITH that it will shield us.
Yeah, right.

No doubt there are idiots who believe that.
Nevermind the containers in ports, or the cargo on planes! Nevermind the possibility of bombs in trucks or bio weapons small enough for cars or suitcases! Nevermind securing our own chem/nuke facilities! Heck, we can put nuclear waste on trains and send it slowwwwly through the country to Yucca mountain and it'll be just fine, nobody could mess with it!!
But John Kerry doesn't understand the threat....

Why is he trying to scare America
So these so called Terra ists can go on the open market and buy a nuke? And do this all from the comfort of their caves?
So if Kerry is elected, they will do this but if Bush is re-selected, they wont even think about doing something like this?

In the former Soviet states. Oh wait, that never happened. But, hey, we greenlighted missile defense!
I'm just glad that terrorists can't attack us in the Middle East AND in the United States simultaneously, otherwise known as walking and chewing bubblegum.

9. Oh definitely, that's another perfect example!! |
|
They've so dropped the ball on that as well.
But yeah, the six or seven terrorists in the middle east can't get them, or come here, since we're fighting them in Iraq. :eyes:

13. Dirty bombs Ports and Cheney |
|
If Bush and Cheney would stop standing in the way of increased inspection of cargo entering our nation's ports, it's possible they could actually prevent the catastrophee Cheney is warning about rather than just campaigning on it.

lots of duct tape, lots and lots of duct tape, and ah.....make sure when you buy it to look for the Halliburton Logo, the only duct tape approved by the Department of Homeland Security.
Available in the following colors:
Desert Sand, Woodland Cammo, Plain Gray, and for you freepers.....Red, White, and Blue (single colors only-more profit that way)
