"We have nothing to fear but fear itself..." FDR
Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 01:17 PM by kentuck
I think the Kerry campaign might benefit by bringing back this quote because it so aptly describes today's electorate. Bush is going to keep us safe. We will not be as fearful with Bush. We should fear Kerry as the leader. Bullshit. I think the FDR quote in an ad might be very effective.

1. Agreed, it is even more appropriate today than then.
Nothing then could have equaled today's fear-mongering.

2. Who is it that is so fearful?
Maybe if I'd been near ground zero. But 9/11 didn't scare me. Terrorists don't scare me. I'm far liklier to step in front of a moving bus, than in front of a terrorist bullet.

I've met people who were saddened, who were angered, who were confused and oblivious. But I have yet to meet anyone who was scared.

Then again, I don't hang with freepers.

3. Someone a couple months ago put it this way:
Churchill "I have nothing to offer you but blood, tears, toil and sweat".
Roosevelt: "We have nothing to fear but fear itself".

Bush outdoes them both "I have nothing to offer you but fear itself".

4. Many emotions went through my head
Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 01:56 PM by flobee1kenobi
That day
shock
anger
sorrow
confusion
and yes, fear
Having never heard the sonic boom of a fighterjet before in my life,
I was terrified when it shook my walls. I thought the attacks had resumed.
* and cheny are just stoking the flames of this fear from time to time for political purposes and it just makes me sick with anger!
