early voting questions

Could someone say a few words about the "early voting" that's going on in Florida? How is that different from sending in your absentee ballot early? What are the qualifications for voting early?

1. If it's like Texas, anyone can vote early.

The thing that's different from absentee voting is that you have to show up in person at a polling place. There are no restrictions; anyone registered to vote can do it.

Here in Texas early voting is extremely convenient. It last for 11 days, including at least one weekend, and you can vote at any of the early voting polling places in your county.

I assume Florida's system is similar.

2. The only qualification is to be a registered voter, when early voting

Absentee voting requires reasons but anyone can just go in and say, I am going to be doing this or that and vote. So functionally nothing! But early voting brings em in.
