52% Say--and maybe this gives a clue of how sick this country is..... |
|
Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 05:29 PM by DemocracyInaction
Was hit right between the eyes with a 'stat' on Headline News. The 'security moms' might want to take a long look at their male toddler and invision his head being blown off in one of our 'wars'. I surely wish I (as an elder) could just leave this country.
It was from the infamous over-republican-sampled Gallup Poll (but perhaps makes it even that more dangerous). 52% said that "we should NOT invade another country unless it has done something to us". That means that 48% think we can just point a finger anywhere and go blow them and their kids to hell at our whim. Life is a "reality show", a movie, a video game to Americans. The great "Christians" don't know right from wrong--fuck they don't even know what Christianity is about. They really don't think that there are places outside their tv living room that exist with real people. We have conditioned them to think that everything is a tv program. They have no idea what the impact will eventually be on them. You can't have money in your jeans to buy beer and cable tv when you have to float trillions of dollars in WAR. Life is a cartoon to these people....only, in the end, the world will be laughing at them with no sympathy. Now do you see why Bush has half the American people with him when it's so against their best interests???---dear god

1. No, it could also mean |
|
...that some of those 48% do not think we should ever, under any circumstances, go to war or invade another country, for any reason--be it retribution, oil, power, whatever. You are assuming there are only two answers to the question , but there are more than two.

3. Sorry, but they would have reported that on top of what they reported |
|
They were trying to get across how many would not go to war unless a country did something to us. The rest don't care.

4. You are expecting fairness, accuracy |
|
...and a complete story from the MEDIA??? Don't hold your breath. The story as given was the story they wanted to give you. It does not mean that it was accurate. By breaking down the other numbers, they would have diluted the war, war, WAR point they wanted to make.
Always question something that sounds a bit off. Where in that piece are the Quakers, the peaceniks, the conscientious objectors? The sweet little grammas who don't like fighting of any kind? In that world and in that piece, they do not even exist.
Problem is, in reality world, they do.

2. Life is a reality TV show for the average American |
|
I have much more disdain for the average ignorant self-centered American who enables Bush than the right-wing base. The average American will only wake up when Bush's evils start to break the protective shell of their selfish existence.
