Who is volunteering in this campaign for 1st time?
I keep hearing in the media that although Dems are upset over the 2000 election, this probably won't translate into votes. Hubby & I are very active in Kerry's campaign, volunteering every weekend since July, phone banking, yada, yada, yada. I've never been active in any campaign before and hubby not since 1972. Who else is active for the first time or first time in long time in this campaign?

1. Me.
Tried in 2002, but there were few people around to help a new volunteer like myself. This time around, the situation is far different. And I'm in Texas.

2. Me two!
The Democratic Party HQ in Morris County NJ has never seen the turnout of volunteers that they've seen this election season. The potentates of the party were stunned by all the people that showed up to volunteer. The first night, over two hundred people came and the crowd was spilling out onto the sidewalk. Bush and the rest of the bastards will ride a rail out of town on Nov 2nd!

3. Me, me, me!
Always voted for the Dem presidential candidate, but never before have I donated money, volunteered at Dem HQ, worked voter registration, delivered signs, worn partisan shirts/buttons, or done poll watching. Which is pretty much the complete list of everything I am doing now. And it's all thanks to George W. Bush.

4. This is my first time too
I've been calling voters for Moveon.org for the past 2 days. This is also the first time I've donated money. I've given to Kerry and to Peter DeFazio (OR rep.). We've GOT to win this one!

Got involved last year in the Dean campaign and now I stand wholeheartedly behind Kerry. Phone banking, canvassing, first time I've ever given money to any candidate in an election cycle, etc....

And I absolutely love it.

6. I know. Once we win, I'm going to miss the urgency of action. It all
feels like the world depends on us, which it does.

8. Exactly
And I'll miss my campaign friends terribly. I see these people more than I see my own family.

12. Me too. The Kerry staff are from all over the country and I'll probably
never see them again. It's been such an intense experience and they are so nice.

First time active in decades, and I've never been as involved as I am this year, Spent the summer registering voters, now working to get them to the polls. Meetings. Donations. Rallies. Blockwalks. Don't have time for the media bullshit.
