LTTE in heavily Catholic area
Politically, the Catholic Church is best known for the Pope's strong statements against the Iraq war and for its pro-life advocacy. But the Church stands for much more than these two issues. For example, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has stated that “affordable and accessible health care is an essential safeguard of human life, a fundamental human right, and an urgent national priority,” and the Pope has called improved care for the environment a “moral issue.” Before every presidential election, the Bishops addresses a great variety of important election issues facing American Catholics in a statement called Faithful Citizenship: A Catholic Call to Political Responsibility. The Bishops' statement is available on the nonpartisan website votingcatholic.org, which also has a quiz that allows you to measure your beliefs against the statement of the Bishops and against the positions of the two main presidential candidates. I recommend votingcatholic.org to any voters seeking guidance in this very important election year.

Any thoughts?

1. It's a good letter
There are many forces inside and outside the Catholic Church, trying to persuade Catholics that the only political issues that matter are abortion and gays; in a happy coincidence, those are the only two issues where Stupidhead's position is more in line with some Catholic teachings than Kerry.

On a host (no pun intended) of other issues, Kerry is far and away the candidate that faithful Catholics should vote for.

2. Excellent letter!
Reasonable, affirms the Church's overall message, and encourages voters to get the facts themselves. Stamp it and send it!
