USA TODAY/CNN/GALLUP Poll Shows Kerry Leading Bush in Oregon
MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- USA TODAY/CNN/GALLUP have released the results of a poll of likely voters in the battleground state of Oregon. The results show that of likely voters in that state, John Kerry has 53% of the vote and George W. Bush has 45% of the vote.

The poll of 700 likely voters, conducted October 15 - 18, has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Respondents were also asked about the proposal on the ballot to amend the Oregon state constitution so that only marriages between a man and a woman would be recognized as legal and valid by the state. Results showed that 50% of likely voters were for the proposal, 44% were against the proposal, 5% had no opinion, and 1% did not answer.

In addition to nationwide polls, USA TODAY/CNN/GALLUP is tracking the support for the candidates in the closely contested states likely to decide the 2004 election. Results for the Oregon state poll will appear in tomorrow's editions of USA TODAY. Complete results can now be found on USATODAY.com by going to http://www.politics.usatoday.com and clicking on USA TODAY polls.

1. If Gallup says he's up by six
The real numbers are more like 59/41....

2. That poll that had Bush up by five points here
(came out a few days ago), was, as we all knew, total bull puckey.

Oregon is Kerry country.

4. we are gonna deliver Oregon in a BIG WAY..just you wait.
Oregon activism has ensured Kerry won't have to waste time and money in Oregon the way Gore did in 2000. That vote BARELY went to Gore and could have been contested it was so close.

So....this time around Nader has lost out...people here mobilized in support of Kerry and in protest of Bush each time they visited. Even the typically "red-leaner" counties are fed up and tilting toward Kerry.

Should be comfortable margin of victory.

5. I wasn't aware Oregon was a battleground state.
If Kerry is up 8 points according to Gallup/USA Today/CNN that means Kerry is probably up by more.
