So what is the electronic voting status in Ohio?
I'm thrilled to hear about the recent trend toward Kerry in this state, but a disturbing thought crossed my mind today. What if this state is already fixed for Bush?

I seem to remember a while back on DU people claiming that Diebold voting machines are being used in many precincts around Ohio. Any evidence that there may be some tampering underfoot?

Let's assume that there is some funny business going on. Is there any way we can expose it? Does Kerry have any legal recourse to take?

I'd hate to have all this hardwork and optimism be crushed by nefarious republicans with no sense of decency.

1. Excellent!
The Ohio BBV group, CASE Ohio, exerted so much pressure on Blackwell that only 3 smallish counties will be using touch-screen machines in this election.

4. Outstanding!
Any info on the political leanings of these counties? Are they primarily Dem or Repub?

Looks like as of late July, six counties were using them -- none of the machines, as far as I know, are Diebold (I remember hearing Sequoia, though at the moment I can't find the thread that detailed it). As I've been saying -- the Goopers will have to get their hands dirty to mess with the vote in Ohio. Not that they won't, but it won't be as easy as Blackwell wanted it to be.

Edit -- unless I miss my geography, Franklin County is Columbus. It's the only one on the list in the post above that contains a list that's crucial, and I don't now how much deployment there'll be. And again -- none of the machines in Ohio are Diebold. Our circuit courts stood up for what was right, good for them!

7. Now that, and convincing first-time voters they have to have
a notarized birth certificate and DNA sample just to get in the polling place, are different subjects entirely!

8. There are a few counties using e-voting...
but most of the State is still using good old "reliable" punch-card machines.
