Can deLay really be brought down? |
|
Got email from democracyforamerica.com asking for a donation to help them air a TV ad in his district. I would love nothing more than for him to be frogmarched out of the House!!! What I'd like to know is , is there really a chance he can be beat? I have limited funds and want to put them where they will be of the greatest help. But if there's a real chance of defeating him, I'll definitely send some. Thanks for any opinions out there...DU is the only place I trust.
(Sorry if this has been brought up elsewhere -- I looked and didn't see anything.)

2. Here's the rundown, from DailyKos |
|
Edited on Wed Oct-20-04 12:24 AM by Sliverofhope
Lake Snell Perry & Associates (D) for Private Client. 10/10-11. MoE 4.9%. (No trend lines).
DeLay (R) 47 Morrison (D) 33 Among the findings:
* DeLay has high negatives. 17% view him very favorably, 25% view him very unfavorably.
* Morrison's name ID is at 50 percent, which clearly has to improve in the next couple of weeks.
* 20% remain undecided, even when asked which way they lean.
* While the poll pegs DeLay's support at 47%, only 33% say they support him strongly. 10% say they are not-so strongly for him, and 4% are undecided but lean toward DeLay. Even tallying up all his support, strong and weak, he's still under 50 percent.
* The ethics violations are accumulating voter sentiment against DeLay, and voters are looking for an alternative. More than a third (34%) of voters say they're less likely to vote for DeLay because of the ethics violations, and only half of those are currently with Morrison.
----
If we could get the undecided 20%, we can win. It's tough, but you have to draw your own conclusions.
And this poll was done before the Houston Chronicle's endorsement of Morrisson, I believe. So, I don't know what to tell you. I'm from his district, and it'd be great to win, it would decapitate the House GOP, but there are likelier wins.

4. That's a very high undecided |
|
especially in Texas, especially when the undecideds for the Big Race are a lot fewer than 20%. I would say with a lot of hard work and a little luck there's a possiblity of unseating the bastard. I'll be sending in my donation , and thanks for posting these numbers.

It'd be awesome if we could do this. I've always thought the national party should focus on this race because of the key importance. Because of the blogs, Morrisson has a fighting chance.

http://www.campaignmoney.org/delay/values.htmClub for Growth is airing ads for DeLay, so we need third-party ads as well. Also, go to http://www.groundzerofortomdelay.com/ and check out the Bay Area New Democrats. For every $2, you can put up a Richard Morrisson sign. If everyone here at DU gave just $5 or so, then the district would overflow.
