Kerry wins Utah with 57% of the vote!
Edited on Wed Oct-20-04 04:04 AM by Sean Reynolds
Well at least an elementary school in Salt Lake City's Yale-crest neighborhood:

Starting young
Grade-schoolers learn firsthand about the voting process

Democratic Sen. John Kerry clearly led the grade-school crowd in Salt Lake City's Yale- crest neighborhood with 57 percent of the 500 votes cast. President Bush followed with 39 percent, and unaffiliated candidate Ralph Nader scored 12 votes.
"After listening to and watching the debates, I think could run the country real well," said Milo Marsden, an 8-year-old third-grader. "I think he's going to pull troops out of Iraq and stop the war."

SNIP:

"Bush kind of rushed into war, and he can't get out of it," said 10-year-old Jeff Dahdah, a fifth-grader.
Said another Bush detractor: "He surrounds himself with smart people, but he graduated from college with a 'C.' "
But students saw Tuesday's election as something more than just a chance to demonstrate their political savvy.
It was the first time most of them had ever voted, and they appreciated the experience.
"It makes you more of a citizen and it makes our country a better country," Milo said. "The people that wrote our Constitution made a really important thing."

I remember in 1992 I was in elementary and we had a mock election. I believe George Bush won, but I think I voted for Clinton...I can't quite remember.

4. Probably. but kids are more honest
Which means that their parents might still vote the line for Bush because of party loyalty.

14. There's no doubt Salt Lake City will go to Kerry.....
But outside of Salt Lake City it'll all go to Bush, with a few small Utah towns probably voting with Kerry (Park City, Moab, etc).

Last November during the 2003 mayoral elections they calculated Bush's approval rating within the city and it was roughly 35%.

The problem is that SLC is only a city of 181,000 in a county of 1 million and a state of 2.5 million.

7. Bzzt! Wrong faith.
Try "they will be encouraged, *strongly*, to go on a mission for two years once they turn 18".

8. I went on a mission when I was 18....
Tried to see if I could single-handedly double U.S. per capita beer consumption.

Failed. But it was a noble effort.

15. That means that the Mormons of Utah are taught their RIGHT WING HATE...
as time goes on. If these young kids see reality at a young age, then their parents will brainwash them into believing the Right Wing Propaganda!!! Maybe we should send the 101st Airborne into to Utah to stop the Morman Church?!?

18. Most are probably non-LDS.
If you look at the makeup of the city, only 40% of Salt Lake is LDS.
