"Reminds me: for those who came in late, I've been traveling a lot this last year, so far to 13 countries on five continents. ...

...people everywhere I've been are opposed to what the U.S. is doing in Iraq. It's not a left-right issue. We are becoming pariahs. Also, Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib haven't disappeared from the world's consciousness the way it has here. These are serious, continuing, ongoing, terrifying concerns.

<clip>

From the outside, as far as I can tell, the election we're about to have isn't about Bush or Kerry. It's really about whether you and I are OK with illegal war and bombing civilians and torturing people and indefinite detention.

If we say no, then a lot of folks are willing to put it all on Bush and give us a second chance.

But if we say yes to all this... there will come a whirlwind."

1. Thank you for posting this. It concerns me to, because the
world is asking us -- the American people -- to do something. What they don't realize is that we are hamstrung by a corrupt and hamstrung Congress and machines that will obliterate the electorial process. I don't know anyone who thinks we can win over rigged machines. I'm very sad.

2. Regardless of what the machines "may" do.... if nearly 50% of the
country is so easily led astray, so easily can be manipulated and compromised.... then half of this country deserves exactly what is coming to them. Too bad for the other half huh? It pisses me off to no end that these people are so easily misled. WTF is a person to do?

Even if he gets in... I say even... there is still something that will need to be done.

3. I've been saying this to everyone I know
even if this comes out right, there's a lot of work to do.

The worst thought is this one: What if W hadn't been quite so arrogant as to pursue this war, but stopped after Afghanistan, and somehow the economy for some reason were doing better despite his incompetent policies (probably it would collapse later from the deficit but let's say for argument that at the moment it were up) and that means the prison scandal wouldn't have happened, and let's imagine he was coached better to at least hold his own at the debates--

In other words, if he were ONLY dismantling the Bill of Rights and the separation of church and state and didn't commit these other massive blunders, then it's likely he would have enough to be elected. "Scary" is the understatement of the century.

This does NOT mean that a majority of the voters want those things. It means that they don't realize it's being done. And this leads us to, of course:

The "liberal(right-wing corporate state-run) media"

It's time for a change.....

4. You know what?? Karen Hughes is a nutcase.... she said so many
contradicting statements regarding Kerry and the WOT... I hate to even utter the words... and now on Crossfire you have Sucker Carlson saying that the French are not going to send in troops if Kerry is elected... yada yada yada.... who in the hell says that that is what needs to be done???? No one.

Perhaps the answer to the problem in Iraq is to have less troops... perhaps the answer to the terror threat is to stop bombing people into oblivion so that their relatives live on to try and suicide bomb you.

Perhaps Bush has shown negligence by not truly going after the son of a business associate with the special forces.

Political pundits are idiots... our resident is an idiot, this whole this is about controlling the flow of oil and the routing of drug money around the world... if you don't believe me, listen to Michael Ruppert tell it like it is.... this is about cash flow, nothing more, nothing less.

What chilling words. I hope for the sake of my country and the world that America finally awakens and uses some common sense. Why in God's name do the people of America think they know so damn much more than every other country in the world? Are we truly that arrogant?
