Der Spiegel: Iranian Ayatollahs endorse Bush
Maybe there's been a deal. Bush will let them have nukes, if they'll just be quiet about it.

Sorry it's in German. I failed to find a version in English. If anyone does find some more in English, please post it. I'll translate.

Bush received unusual support by way of the Ayatollahs in Iran endorsing him.
<snip>

Bush got from of all places as part of the "Axis of Evil" support. According to Hasan Rohani, head of the national security council of Iran, Teheran prefers Bush to his challenger John Kerry. He said seen historically the democrats have hurt Iran more than the Republicans. "We do not wish that the Democrats take over control of government." It would be the first time in decades that an Iranian government expressed an opinion of a US election in such an open way.

Ok, so what does mean? I could see a Bush supporter arguing they're using reverse psychology to give Bush a kiss of death. I wonder what they're trying to accomplish; it's not like lots of American voters would listen to the Ayatollahs.

There have been ties between Republicans and Iran. Iran-Contra. I heard something about them holding hostages to make Clinton look bad. Haliburtan subsidiaries doing business with them. Oil. A culuture war against abortion, sex ed, democracy, "evilution", etc.

Maybe there's been a deal. Bush will let them have nukes, if they'll just be quiet about it.

2. Mh, they're dumb if they say so.
I can see why Bush would be an ideal president from Al-Quaeda's point of view; you can't paint a better "infidel demon who eats babies" than that to your potential suicide recruits. But just as well, they might say they support Kerry, so everyone believes Cheney when he says the terrorists want Bush to lose.

But I guess this is just a question of who will fall for what. There is hardly any room left for facts anymore, everyone is set in their mind. Each will interpret this to his own liking, depenging on whether they support Bush or Kerry.
