Robertson: I warned Bush on Iraq casualties
President's response: 'We're not going to have any'

Tuesday, October 19, 2004 Posted: 10:20 PM EDT (0220 GMT)

NEW YORK (CNN) -- The founder of the U.S. Christian Coalition said Tuesday he told President George W. Bush before the invasion of Iraq that he should prepare Americans for the likelihood of casualties, but the president told him, "We're not going to have any casualties."

Just very odd -- it goes on:

"You remember Mark Twain said, 'He looks like a contented Christian with four aces.' I mean he was just sitting there like, 'I'm on top of the world,' " Robertson said on the CNN show, "Paula Zahn Now."

"And I warned him about this war. I had deep misgivings about this war, deep misgivings. And I was trying to say, 'Mr. President, you had better prepare the American people for casualties.' "

Robertson said the president then told him, "Oh, no, we're not going to have any casualties."

But I love this line:

"Even if he stumbles and messes up -- and he's had his share of stumbles and gaffes -- I just think God's blessing is on him," Robertson said."

Boy, what an endorsement -- and what is this guy thinking??

8. I suppose you mean lack of mainstream media pick-up?
I saw it on CNN Headline News this morning, but know yet if it has appeared on the morning shows aside from The 700 Club.

Yeah, *'s behavior is a big red flag. I sent the CNN link to a friend of mine who is a practicing psychologist and Bush supporter. I hope she picks up on this. If she doesn't, she's in denial as deep as Shrub.

What is a two-bit tv preacher doing giving the pResident advice on foreign policy? Funny, but Robertson didn't voice any reservations about this war that I'm aware of.

And Bush has god's blessing? It's okay to start war for trumped up reasons? Christ, I wouldn't like to know what Bush would be like if he was cursed. That man is a curse on America and the entire world. A CURSE. Robertson is an evil, evil little man.

On edit: I just read the other thread on this. I'm terrified, because I casually set aside Bush's 'no casualties' comment as just another idiotic, non-reality-based thing the man has said, without really thinking about it because it is such a common occurance with him. I agree that we NEED to think about it. First, Bush was serious. As insane as saying there will be, 'No casualties' in a war, Bush really meant it. I'm letting this sink in. OMFG.

4. Rove and Scalia's blessing are on the boy king. God does not cheat
God spoke through all the people of America and we wanted GORE! However, it was a corrupt few that wanted a puppet to complete their agenda. God would have endorsed the none violent none greedy person for office. And if Georgie is so ordained by God, how come the repugs are working so hard to have dishonest disenfranchised elections again? By the way, the same thing was said of Hitler.

6. Robertson never once mentioned that he was praying for the
deaths of 3 or 4 Supreme Court Justices about a year ago. How CNN or anybody else can give this guy air time and call him credible simply AMAZES me! And this "the Lord told me" crap has GOT to stop!

9. he has no business being on the air
he should be denounced at every opportunity for his hateful bigotry. To the extent that he influences our politics, he's damaging it.

7. So, If Kerry wins in November ...
Does that mean God was wrong in 2000.

I think they dug AWOLs politicol grave when they tried to convince Americans that AWOL was chosen by God.

Cheers
