This could have legs. It plays into the "out of touch" Bush syndrome. The media should be pumping the hell out of this even more than they did the Mary Cheney thing.
If we can make sure this stays alive for a few news cycles, this will push the undecideds towards us in a major way.

There are plenty of things that this Administration has said and done that should be major stories but the SCLM has ignored them because it makes their guy look bad. Why would this story be any different?
