the npr radio only debate from about a week ago |
|
i read somewhere that the radio debate was the first radio only debate in a long time. i think i remember the last date being 1948. although i think they meant only debates for president. does anyone know if this is true. i didn't really listen to the debate either but for those that did, did you like the radio only format ? or is tv better ? i'm thinking with radio only people would focus more on what candidates say which is important.

1. Debates weren't really televised until the 1960s |

with the Kennedy-Nixon debates, often called the last big revolution in presidential politics. Before that, they were all on the radio, and I doubt they stopped entirely after 1960 as well.
Of course, I'm just speculating here.

most and probably all televised debates for presidents are heard on radio also. but i meant a debate only for radio. that this was the first time candidates debated only on the radio.
