Vote Kerry, get nuked, veep warns: Dem on `wrong side'
By Noelle Straub
Wednesday, October 20, 2004

Vice President Dick Cheney yesterday warned that terrorists may smuggle a nuclear bomb into an American city and kill hundreds of thousands of people, then suggested Sen. John F. Kerry wouldn't take steps necessary to fight such a threat.

``The biggest threat we face now as a nation is the possibility of terrorists ending up in the middle of one of our cities with deadlier weapons than have ever before been used against us - biological agents or a nuclear weapon or a chemical weapon of some kind to be able to threaten the lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans,'' Cheney said at an event in Carroll, Ohio.

The vice president said, ``You've got to get your mind around that concept,'' in order to develop a strategy capable of defeating that threat. He noted that Kerry tells voters he would be a ``tough, aggressive'' leader against terrorism.

``I don't believe it,'' Cheney said. ``I don't think there's any evidence to support the proposition that he would, in fact, do it.'' <snip>
