Went last nite to the most amazing party for Kerry/Edwards in San Fran!

I've attended a lot of fundraisers in the last year for the DNC, Dean and Kerry...plus the various Senator du jour rolling in for a fundraiser...(Hillary was here friday for a big fundraiser in SF that raised a couple million). Anyway, last night was by far the most amazing and special...not because of the money raised but because of what it was...I attended a small party in San Francisco (about 120) at a party that was co-hosted by Mayor Gavin Newsom at the newly remodeled Matrix/Filmore club....In an intimate setting Musicians for Kerry played Music and read poetry for the crowd....Ray Manzarek of the Doors played songs and talked about how in that very club in the 60's they did LSD and wrote some of their music and fought for peace, love and end to Vietnam...he said that he would never have believed that 40 years later we would be in another war like Vietnam....He said that we are fighting the fascists and that its a war...a war between the lovers (Us) and the war mongers (Bush)....He said we had to win...that this is about Peace and the future of the world and all of our children....Gavin Newsom stood up and said that his kids and Grandkids thank us for our fight for them (he and his wife haven't started a family yet :) )...Ray played his Door tunes as poet Michael McClure read his poetry...and in the Background was a large screen plasma TV showing the Red Sox vs Yankees playing and winning. We danced, we laughed and we screamed when the Red Sox won....We raised $50,000 for the Kerry legal fund (GELAC - General Election Legal Accounting Compliance Fund - translation: Kerry Election Legal A-team fund to make sure that * doesn't steal the election) but we all felt a peace, a happiness of feeling like what we are going to feel like on Nov.2nd/3rd....or I should say Jan. 20th, 2005....it felt so good...We are going to win....
