the scam(s) the bushgang is pulling on our college kids - registration

Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) students recently received a real-life lesson: Do not sign something unless you thoroughly read it.

Students, who last month signed a petition that was being circulated on the Blue Bell campus to legalize marijuana for primarily medicinal purposes, now are finding out that they are registered Republicans.
"This is just very disheartening," said Plymouth resident Jennifer Fugo, a 24-year-old continuing education student who describes herself as a "victim of voter registration manipulation."
"Everyone is encouraging young people to register and vote and then they experience something like this," Fugo said Monday. "This is just outrageous."
Fugo, who had been living in New York, this summer returned to the area and, in August, had her voter registration transferred to Plymouth. Her new registration card at that time correctly listed her party affiliation as a Democrat.
Imagine her surprise last week, said Fugo, when she received a new registration card from the county that listed her as a registered Republican.
"It is disgraceful and detestable, not to mention illegal, to alter anyone's voter registration without that person's consent," Fugo said. "The thought that there is a special interest group in my area that is knowingly defrauding citizens voting records is outrageous, no matter what party or interest group is perpetrating this act."

When she contacted the county's voter registration office, she was advised that she was not the only MCCC student who was a victim of registration fraud.
County voter services Director Joseph R. Passarella said that his office has received "less than a handful" of complaints from MCCC students complaining that they have been registered as Republicans and all were tied into the same petition drive.
His office has not been able to pin down the group that submitted these registrations.

Students claim they were duped into switching party registration

Students at the University of Central Florida and two community colleges claim they were duped into switching their party affiliations from Democrat to Republican, campus police officials said Tuesday.

Fewer than 10 students have filed reports with UCF police saying they were approached by a middle-aged couple in the student union who asked for support in changing child molestation laws. The students filled out a form that asked for personal information, and some time later they received a notice from the county election supervisor's office that their party affiliation had been changed, said Sgt. Troy Williamson, a spokesman for the UCF police.

Similar incidents have occurred at Valencia Community College in Orange County and Seminole Community College, Williamson said.

Williamson said it would be up to the state attorney's office or federal prosecutors to determine if a crime had been committed.

Subject: Some Things Never Change

On Friday October 15, 2004 I received a phone call from my son who is attending Indiana University of PA. He had just received a new voter registration card for Indiana County and was now registered as a republican. This was very disturbing to him in that he was registered as a democrat and had never completed a new registration. After discussing the problem with his friends at school, he found several others had also been reregistered as republicans without their knowledge. They came to the conclusion that they all had signed a petition for a liberal cause. (This would assure most, if not all, of the signers would be registered as democrats.) The people circulating the petition told them that they needed their names, addresses and social security numbers.

What was done to these citizens of the United States was at best a detestable trick and at worst voter fraud. They all, of course, can still vote for whomever they desire. However, as first time voters in a presidential election, they very easily could become disheartened by the whole process of voting. This may be what the perpetrators had planned. It seems that the republican party has never stopped coming up with new dirty tricks. Is it any wonder that when Richard Nixon died they attempted to venerate him? Although he and his cronies were thought to be the masters of underhanded deeds, it seems there is a whole new generation that was just waiting in the wings.

5. I am so tired of hearing this. Who cares? They can still vote for JK
and they can fix their registration after the election if they want to vote in a primary later. We have WAY more important things to deal with.
