Response from FORD, RE: Sinclair |
|
Just got this;
Thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company. We appreciate the time you have taken to provide us with your feedback towards advertising on Sinclair Broadcasting.
We regret the circumstances that have prompted you to contact us. Please accept our apology for any frustration or inconvenience you may have experienced.
We appreciate your input regarding our advertising. We believe one of the most effective ways to connect with customers and generate mass awareness of our products is through television advertising. We treat our purchase of commercial time as we do any other prime time, mainstream television program. By buying commercial time on top-rated shows, we are not making judgment on the specific content of the show but simply making an optimized attempt to reach our many customers through award-winning television programming.
Ford advertises on many networks and our commercials run on their affiliate stations, including those in the Sinclair group. We do not endorse candidates or advertise on programs that are partisan. We do not endorse or support in any way the broadcast of the show in question, "Stolen Honor."
Ford Motor Company values the opinions and sensibilities of our customers worldwide and will continue to try to place advertising on programs that reach and appeal to our diverse customer base.
If you have any other inquiries or concerns, please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to address them.
Thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company.
Sincerely, Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center

7. What I told the Toyota and Ford customer line |
|
"When it comes time for me to buy my next vehicle, your ad purchases on Sinclair stations will weigh heavily in my decision."

Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc...., we apologize for your dissatisfaction that Toyota, the Toyota Dealership Association and/or a Toyota dealership advertises on Sinclair Broadcasting Group television stations.
Toyota's national advertising is purchased directly through the various networks represented by Sinclair’s television group -- not through Sinclair itself. Toyota's decision to advertise on a particular television station is based on the audience the television station targets and the level of interest it generates among the American public.
Like most large advertisers, Toyota purchases its network ads well in advance and does not have a hand in the development of the programming. We make every effort to screen programs considered to contain controversial issues but we do not always have the opportunity to know the content of individual episodes in advance.
We have always honored our contracts for network television ads. Since the networks are not a party to this dispute, it would be inappropriate to take action that might jeopardize their programming.
The FCC and the Federal Elections Commission are charged with being stewards of fair elections. We respect their respective roles and feel it would be counterproductive and premature to weigh in on programming matters, as related to federal election law and campaign-broadcast regulations.
It is through communications such as yours that we become aware of the reactions and expectations of our customers and the general public. We appreciate the time you have taken to email us.
Your email has been documented at our National Headquarters under file #200410200386. If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact us.

5. I have a Lincoln now... |
|
just in the process of looking for new one that doesn't get four gallons to the mile. Was almost settled on Prius. But now it's neither Ford/Mer/Lincoln or Prius.
Guess they just aren't getting the picture. I thought they were trying to sell cars. Zero per cent interest rates and all. My mistake. Scratch that 25 grand off your bottom line.
Happy motoring.
