it because that is not the time line. Remember the journalst beheaded in Afghanistan? That was long before A. G.
Beheading is a traditional method of execution in the Middle East, they have done it for at least 4000 years. It did not start with A.G.
I lived in the Middle East as a child for two years---I witnessed weekly executions by beheading in the public square (Saudi Arabia). I also saw a few stonings (these were the MOST terrible IMO), a few deaths by firing squad, and many amputations of limbs. But the MOST common method of execution was by beheading and it has been the most common execution method throughout recorded time in the middle east.

the trigger -- the first one happened just with a week or so of the photos hitting the airwaves. All coalition hostages had been released unharmed up to that point.
