bush says kerry doesn't understand terror war
MASON CITY, Iowa (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites) charged on Wednesday that Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites) has a "fundamental misunderstanding" of the war on terrorism because a leader in the Iraqi insurgency, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, has sworn allegiance to Osama bin Laden (news - web sites).

"Zarqawi is a terrorist. We are fighting Mr. Zarqawi in Iraq (news - web sites). My opponent seems to think that if we were not fighting in Iraq, he would become a peaceful citizen. Zarqawi would be plotting, planning, ready to strike. He must be defeated there, so we do not face him here," Bush said in a Reuters interview aboard Air Force One.

With polls showing Americans trust Bush more in the war on terrorism, Kerry said in a national security speech that Bush had taken his eye off the terrorists and failed to lead.

"That is precisely why the American people understand that he has a fundamental misunderstanding of the war on terror and why his position on the war on terror will make this world a more dangerous place," Bush said.

Kerry said in Waterloo, Iowa, that the CIA (news - web sites) had found no clear link between the toppled Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) and Zarqawi, the Jordanian militant believed to have masterminded a series of suicide bombings, beheadings and attacks in Iraq.

But Bush, also campaigning in the swing state of Iowa, reminded supporters at a rally that recently "Zarqawi publicly announced his sworn allegiance to Osama bin Laden." Bush's position is that Iraq is a central front in the war on terrorism, not a diversion from it as Kerry claims.

sorry, but what did zarqawi have to do with saddam?

3. I wouldn't mention Zarqawi if I were Flightsuit-Boy
Considering that MSNBC was reporting back in March that the Bush Administration made a conscious decision in 2002 not to take advantage of several opportunities to kill Zarqawi, fearing that his death would remove one of their justifications for invading Iraq. Nothing much was ever made of this (it seemed to me then and it seems to me now to be bordering on treasonous), but it could still come back to bite Bush in the behind.

6. So let me get this straight....
This turd of a president ignores intelligence that al-qaida is going to attack us, we are attacked under his watch, he turns that into an excuse to attack a country that hadn't attacked us and didn't have the weapons he'd claimed, then doesn't send in enough troops or equipment to do it right, doesn't have a plan to stabilize the country, won't protect our ports, wants to take away basic rights of all Americans, offends all of our allies, claims NATO and UN are irrelevant, infuriates the entire middle east by allowing torture and refusing prisoners some basic human rights....
and it's Kerry who he claims has a 'fundamental misunderstanding' of war on terra?
