McCurry Statement on Bush 'Casualties' Comment to Pat Robertson
To: National Desk, Political Reporter

Contact: Chad Clanton or Phil Singer, 202-464-2800, both of Kerry-Edwards 2004

WATERLOO, Iowa, Oct. 20 /U.S. Newswire/ - Kerry-Edwards campaign advisor Mike McCurry issued the following statement today in response to reports that President Bush told Pat Robertson that "we're not going to have any casualties" in Iraq :

"We believe President Bush should get the benefit of the doubt here but he needs to come forward and answer a very simple question: Is Pat Robertson telling the truth when he said you didn't think there'd be any casualties or is Pat Robertson lying?"

3. Love it...
What does he say?

Yes, which makes him look like a bigger fool, or
No, which means he is calling Pat Robertson a liar.

4. This Is A Beautiful Opening, Sir
The knife must be driven home and twisted hard!

The statement is undoubtedly true, and in addition to demonstrating the reckless idiocy and naivitie of the Crawford coward and his advisors, amounts to cold proof the current administration knew Hussein's arsenals contained no chemical or biological weapons, and that they lied deliberately when they stated otherwise, for if there was any genuine worry such weapons might be used against U.S. soldiers invading the place, that statement could never have been made.

7. So if god told Bush there would be no casualties
why did Bush tell us Saddam was an imminent threat, armed with WMD's?

12. Because The Wretch Was Lying Through His Teeth, Ma'am
It is clear from this statement they knew full well that Hussein's arsenals contained no nerve gas, no anthrax, none of the things they told the people were ready instantly to strike U.S. soldiers and cities....

"Always tell the truth; it's easier to remember."

15. Because, Doctor
He was lying, and damned well knew he was lying.

Everything about the invasion indicates the planners knew perfectly well no such weapons existed....

18. Yeah, The Real Question Is: WTF Was Robertson Thinking By Dropping
this little gem? (not that I'm complaining) Was this merely the product of a bit of verbal diarrhea and name dropping (god's name that is, as in "I KNEW this would happen cuz I talk to him")? Did he not realize the implications of this statement; that it in fact would pretty much prove Bush knew there was no threat from WMD's??? Is it evidence of some sort of a schism or merely profound stupidity?

24. Schism ... of sorts. More like ready to jump ship on the loser!
Many know that Robertson stated publicly that he had heard from his Heavenly play friend that Bush would win the election in a "walk" back in January. He implied a landslide.

Now, smelling the potential opposite means that Pat has to start spinning for a recoup so he can keep his influence on the base. This is just setting Chimpy up, (IHMO) for why God let him lose. This is just a first step in damage control

25. That Is Beyond Me, My Fried
But there are elements of one-upmanship in the statement, as Robertson by it presents himself as being superior in his understanding of the matter to the Crawford coward, and Robertson is deeply infected with the diseases of spiritual pride, that can move a man's tongue in odd ways at times....

"There are scores of thousands of human insects ready at a moment's notice to reveal the will of God on every conceivable subject."

29. Robertson plays a long game
I think he's dumping Dubya and gearing up for 2012.

He may be trying to bring the Republican party to its senses (yes I know that's a contradiction interms). Isn't he associated with the Constitution party or some damn thing?

14. Beautiful.
1. keeps the story alive while we await shrub's answer.

2. after shrub ignores the issue, Dems can equate his non-answer with acknowledgement that Robertson is telling the truth.

3. which allows Kerry to add the shrub stupidity to an already devastating attack line on Iraq "shrub in denial" and "shrub mislead".

17. YES! THANK YOU

Every once in a while this campaign shows some cojones.

Go ahead, Shrub. Call Pat a liar and alienate, oh, 1 or 2 million fundies who are already a bit miffed that your VP has a LESBIAN DAUGHTER. Whoops. Scratch that last part.

Which is it.

and "optimistic" of the "great superiority of our fighting men & women" et-fcking-cetera.

RAM THIS IN ALONG WITH the bushCartel crap of "hugs and roses" greetings, won't cost Americans in $, Iraqis will "love and thank us", NO PLANS for after the war (CIA and US State Dept's own reports) and so on. Put this ALL TOGETHER with bush's "no casualties" remark and you show a deeply ignorant bubbleboy.

Oh and add in the decision LAST SUMMER to downsize our troops to "1 or 2 divisions or 30,000 troops" as a "new Iraqi gov't would be installed within 30 days or so" and "Iraq's oil will pay for reconstruction".
