New media frenzy coming up. (re: THK about Laura Bush)
Asked how she would be different from Mrs. Bush if Kerry won the Nov. 2 election, Heinz Kerry said: "Well, you know, I don't know Laura Bush. But she seems to be calm, and she has a sparkle in her eye, which is good. But I don't know that she's ever had a real job -- I mean, since she's been grown up."
In a statement put out later by the Kerry campaign, Heinz Kerry said she had forgotten Mrs. Bush's work as a teacher and librarian, "and there couldn't be a more important job than teaching our children."

How long did Pickles teach and why does she allowed her husband to leave any child behind by not funding his pet project, NCLB?

9. crapola.
Pat Robertson says that Bush said there'd be no casualties, but now all we'll hear is this till Monday.

Has GEORGE Bush ever had a real job? One that his daddy didn't get for him? One that he has actually PERFORMED? He was a failure (x4) as an oilman, a failure as a guardsman, and a miserable failure as president.

10. Jeezus... don't even MENTION this crap!
Why spend a single sentence worrying over what the GOP is going to try to saturate the airwaves with when we just got handed one of the all time gift-on-a-silver-platter quotes from Pat Robertson of all people!?!?!?!?

Screw whatever the GOP tries to distract us with, hammer the "there's not going to be any casualties" angle.

11. Was she a teacher or a librarian?
I keep hearing both. I thought she was a librarian at the time she married. She clearly wasn't committed enough to keep working, even though she claims all their early arguments were about money and things that George wouldn't let her buy.

15. She's already shut down the possibility
"I had forgotten that Mrs. Bush had worked as a school teacher and librarian, and there couldn't be a more important job than teaching our children. As someone who has been both a full-time mom and full-time in work force, I know we all have valuable experiences that shape who we are. I appreciate and honor Mrs. Bush's service to the country as first lady and am sincerely sorry I had not remembered her important work in the past."

21. Aol Poll on first "ladies"
Results at about 3:00 pm

Which do you prefer? A traditional or a non-traditional (whatever that means--an independent thinker, likely) first "lady"?

70% traditional
30% non-traditional

Do first ladies make a difference in the election results?

Some 45%
little 45%
none 8%

about 155,000 total votes had been cast.

26. Laura's "career" chronology.....
She attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education in 1968. After college, she worked as a teacher at Longfellow Elementary School. In 1969, she moved to Houston, Texas, where she taught at John F. Kennedy Elementary School until 1972. She received a Master of Library Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1973.

After earning her master's, she worked at the Houston Public Library until moving back to Austin in 1974. She worked as a librarian at Dawson Elementary School until 1977, when she met George Walker Bush at the home of mutual friends. They married in November 1977 and made their home in Midland. In 1981, their twin daughters Barbara and Jenna (named after their grandmothers) were born.

In short, she tried teaching briefly, then tried librarianship. Quit that when she married & never worked again.

27. This is great
I had some older folks tell me "she needs to shut up!" "I will note for Kerry but I don't like that THK" Common sense would say don't give the pugs any ammo at all. It isn't like they have anything else to run on. I guess they did have "it's the trial lawyers fault that there aren't enough flu shots". Zip it!

Anything to change the subject from Pat Robertson's damning "revelation" about Bush's incredibly naive and arrogant statement that there would "no casualities in Iraq!"
