Strangest yardsign/bumpersticker combos...
In the bluegrass state, many a voter has been heard to say that they vote the person and not the party. In Louisville, Ann Northup, the Republican incumbant, is in a tight race with Democratic challenger, Tony Miller. In my travels there, I've seen cars and yards with signs and stickers for Northup, but with a Kerry/Edwards sticker thrown in.
In Lexington, the hot issue in local council races is the purchase of the local water utility, with the City actively pursuing condemnation.
RWE AG, the giant German conglomerate that owns Kentucky American Water, is pouring money into these races in support of candidates who oppose the condemnation. "Buy the Water Company" signs out number the "No Government Takeover" signs by at least a 10 to 1 margin. Ironically, RWE is 40% owned by German municipalities...It's okay for German cities to own our water, but not our city? I have seen yardsigns and bumbperstickers for "Buying the WaterCompany" and bush for President.
I've also seen signs for opposing candidates in the same yard, which, I presume, must be Mr. and Mrs. having a difference of opinion.
One sore spot is the Gay marriage ban amendment on the ballot, signs reduced to yeah or nay.
But like Mark Twain said once, "At the end of the world, I moving to Kentucky, because everything happens there 20 years later."

1. In iowa...
People are so polite that they don't tell the repugs to fuck off when they ask if they can put a sign in the yard. So there are yards with every dem sign on the planet and these two guys who shall remain nameless (no free advert for the pricks here) in with them right next to their challenger. It is a WTF moment. I thought a lot of them might have been husband and wife split tickets but no.

2. When I was up in Lexington most of the signs I saw were for Kerry
But overall did not see many signs at all for anybody. A fraction of the signs we have in TN.

4. I don't know when you were here in Lexington
but today I was putting out signs for a Dem State Rep. There were alot of Kerry/Edwards signs, even in heavily Repub areas. It was heartening to see so many!
I went to our county Dem HQ - no Kerry yardsigns to be had...We have to pay as we go, as the K/E campaign doesn't subsidize us.

3. It wasn't a "strange" combo, but
recently I took a drive up the Owens Valley towards Bishop, CA. From some people I talked to, they said it was largely Repukian territory.

The signs I loved the most were a hand-lettered sign saying "Support Our Troops" posted above a "Kerry/Edwards" sign!
