Whatever happened to Kitty Kelley's book The Family? |
|
I guess since it was anti-Bush, the press wasn't allowed to cover it. Didn't have the impact on the race I was hoping it would.

5. just like the swift boat vets book... |
|
i think the reality is that much of the stuff in it is truly unverifiable. Also, the 48 or so percent of people in the US that support Bush are just (a) not going to believe it anyways, (b) don't care even if its true, or (c) forgive Bush as an ex-User, and admire him for reforming himself, blah blah.
The difference though is that Kitty kelley didn't get a bunch of rich democrats to form a 527 PAC over it.
At the time it came out I hoped Kerry and the democrats would stay clear of it, and am glad they did.

8. Not true at all. She documents everything. |
|
I am reading it now,and it is an excellent book. There is just so much to cover.
I did not realize that not only Prescott Bush, W's grandfather, but also another grandfather, Bert Walker, were involved in financing the Germans during Hitler's regime.
Oh, there is just so much there. It is picture of a highly dysfunctional family.....and our white house resident is a result of that family dysfunction.

18. That's what I'd heard... |
|
War Profiteering without a conscience..runs deep in their history and shared psyche. Several months ago in a chat room (discussion was political) someone told me to do a search on ?prescott Bush and SRA (satanic ritual abuse) I didn't even believe it existed. I'd forgotten all about that. i'm going to do a google now and I'll let you know if I find anything. One of the family members of this chatter (unknown to me) had been a victim of SRA and was so repulsed by the Bush family...I can't wait to read the book, but for me this will be a Kitty first and last I bet!

14. Excuse me, but have you read it? |
|
I have and nearly everything she says in that book comes from the Bush's own words via interviews, diaries, biographies, etc. Most of the rest are quotes from Bush family friends, former roommates, business, and political associates. A very small percentage comes from interviews with those who might be considered "hostile" and Kelley and her attorneys claim that their statements are irrefutable. When she states her own opinion, it is clear and the reader is free to agree or disagree with her conclusions.

And that what little part of it they don't is lazy and stupid and pussy-whipped.

on air America but no one took Ms. Kelly seriously. Al Franken had her on his show and he wasn't very nice to her. I think they think she made the stuff up....but the swift boats vets for lies made their stuff up and that book received so much coverage it was unbelievable. I thought Kerry would lose the race because of that crap! People are so gullible.

17. I heard that interview and Franken and her were having a good laugh. |
|
I don't think he was mean to her at all. I have read Kitty Kelley's book. It is well written and documented as previously stated. She was on many talk shows despite Bush Sr telling his buddies at the networks to not have her on. This action of Bush Sr validates what she says in the book. Of course you would have to read it to know anything, and you didn't.

13. But it didn't hurt Bush |
|
Nothing hurts this lucky bastard. He could French-kiss Satan while Osama Bin Laden buttfucked him on national TV, and 45% of the American people would cheer. Chris Matthews would point out how manly and dominating he is, Sean Hannity would figure out a way to blame the liberals, Rush would blame Bill Clinton, and Paula Zahn would wait for her turn.

The several threads on this book were puzzling me. I see now. It is good to make it sound unimportant.
It is just long, involved, and thoughtful. People are reading it, and the Bush family does not come out on top.

while containing much good info it is:
a) BORING!!!!!!!! it takes HUNDREDS of pages to get near *'s life and while factual, it's just a huge snooze, esp. if you've already read the Kevin Phillips *Dynasty* book.
b) ALL the juicy bits were released in advance of publication and there wasn't all that much. yawn. been there, hyped that.
