I, (state your name), to hearby attest to the following:
It doesn't matter anymore who said what to who when about what.
It doesn't matter anymore if the things said back & forth are true or not.
The damage is done. Nobody is lilly white, but everybody has the best intentions - to beat Bush & take back the White House. No Democrat deserves the vitrol we've seen on this board and in this race. It's time to clean the slate.
Starting Today:
I will work for the goal of unity in the party without exclusion.
I will work to remain fair, objective & truthful.
I will be respectful of my fellow Democrats, their opinions, and their decisions to support whomever and whatever they choose to support.
I will only offer criticism that is thoughtful & constructive.
I am ultimately willing to sacrifice my personal desires for the greater good.
I will express my disapproval of a smear tactic without smearing back. I will remain honest & objective in my assessment of what is a smear tactic and what is reasonable criticism. I will ask people to clarify their statements, or assume benefit of the doubt, before I pass judgement.
Sincerely,
x

I will not take the pledge. It is hollow and who is to decide if I'm working towards unity or not? Am I to moderate or nullify certain opinions?
The only pledge I am willing to make at this point in time is to pledge to support the Democratic nominee as fully as I am physically, financially, and emotionally able to in an effort to defeat George W. Bush. I pledge to do everything I can to not just win but to create a landslide for the Democratic candidate. I also pledge that I am going to do all of this in Dean's name.

I've had to put people on Ignore who consistantly judge Clark supporters to be Satan's children but behave as a Satan child themselves.
I've tried to be nice, friendly, and respectful of people around here but it is not returned. It makes DU an awful place to be.

6. How many times do I have to say this? |
|
I don't do loyalty oaths.
They turn me off and generally ahve the opposite effect to what is desired.

9. Do you have any specific objections? |
|
That's fine if you don't want to sign it, but why a summary dismissal? Why not simply not respond?
