No casualties? White House disputes Robertson comment
No casualties? White House disputes Robertson comment
'The president never made such a comment'
Wednesday, October 20, 2004 Posted: 6:31 PM EDT (2231 GMT)

EAU CLAIRE, Wisconsin (CNN) -- A White House spokesman denied Wednesday that President Bush told Christian Coalition founder Pat Robertson that he did not expect casualties from the invasion of Iraq.

"The president never made such a comment," White House press secretary Scott McClellan said.

Senior Bush campaign adviser Karen Hughes, a longtime confidant of the president, said she was "certain" Bush would not have said anything like that to Robertson.

"Perhaps he misunderstood, but I've never heard the president say any such thing," Hughes said on CNN's "Inside Politics."

Robertson, an ardent Bush supporter, told CNN in an interview Tuesday night that he urged the president to prepare the American people for the prospect of casualties before launching the war in March 2003.

Robertson said Bush told him, " 'Oh, no, we're not going to have any casualties.'

2. The advantage with this one is that Robertson is very believable
to most evangelicals. As much as they love the shrub, I think they would abandon him for Pat, at least in the who's more truthful catagory.

Good old Scott & Karen are trying like hell to dispell this one!

I wonder if they, or anyone, ever has the ba**s to tell shrub directly, "What's wrong with you? Why do you say shit like this?"

I also wonder what in the world Pat is up to? He wouldn't have had to say anything about this, and no one would have ever known. Why did he bring it out NOW???

3. File this under: What are they supposed to say?
Even if they had a 70mm vista vision film of him saying that, they would still deny it. chimp says stupid things all the time, so nobody ought to be suprised.

5. They Have To Lie And Call Robertson A Liar
"It is wonderful to observe the calm confidence of a Christian with four aces."

"LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!"

6. This spokesman says, that confidant says
How about what Chimpy says? I have every confidence that Karen and Scott know all about Chimpy, but I don't see that they were in the room when Robertson said he was talking to Chimpy. So, they don't really KNOW what Chimpy said, now do they?

I think it's up to the President of the United States to address this personally. The flag is falling! Who will catch it?
