I'm all for the "strong woman" thing, but wait til after the election. She's not running for office. Follow Elizabeth Edwards' lead!

23. No kidding. She's a breath of fresh air. |
|
Men who are uncomfortable about women with their own opinions are like farts in crowded elevators. Pee-yew.
First ladies are despised no matter what they do, it's like a national sport. It really doesn't matter who they are, and it has never affected a political election in the past, and it won't affect this one.

8. Here is what she said- Just what is so bad about it? |
|
"Well, you know, I don't know Laura Bush. But she seems to be calm, and she has a sparkle in her eye, which is good," Heinz Kerry said. "But I don't know that she's ever had a real job — I mean, since she's been grown up. So her experience and her validation comes from important things, but different things."

25. "I don't know that she's ever had a real job." |
|
Without being familiar with the details, I am pretty sure she is a librarian. There are undoubtedly many educators out there that would take offense at such a remark, which either shows ignorance regarding Laura's career or implies that being a librarian (and by extension, educator) is not a "real" job.
I wonder what Mrs. Kerry's "job" is (I mean, besides marrying into money). Seriously, I don't know. What does she do with her time; what did she do before she was rich?
Whether or not she is a nice lady, I don't know, but saying what she did about Laura won't make others think she's very nice.

As many women will turn out for her as are turned off, if not more. Strong women who mouth off are good for Democrats. Yeah, the Rethugs froth at the mouth over them, but they're all a buncha misogynistic men and self-hating women anyway.
Go, Teresa!

14. So is her husband's inability to talk to the folks. |
|
He is not getting it done. This should not be a close election and would not be if he (and his handlers) had figured out how to speak with, not at, the people.
I understand you are frustrated but stop blaming a woman.

16. she needs to modify her delivery |
|
It's apparent she hasn't nailed down talking points to stick to and talk like a politician. She has a tendency to improvise and sticks her foot in her mouth. If Lynne Cheney actually said what she really felt about things as frequently as Teresa, she'd also run into trouble.
I don't think it's a gender issue.

18. She apologized.Enough said. |
|
And it is probably really true that Laura hasn't had a real job. She certainly hasn't done anything for years. When did she last work as a librarian? Give me a break. Anyone who would base a vote against Kerry on this wouldn't vote for him anyway! Theresa is actually too good for this country as evidenced by comments like yours.

22. If had gone the rest of my life ... |
|
If I had gone the rest of my life without that being said, it wouldn't have been too late.
Should Dean, Gore, Clark, et al shut up? No, they shouldn't, and when they stick it to the opposition, we applaud them. Why not applaud Theresa as well? Is it because she's a woman?
That's certainly the reason she's being criticized. It plays well to a certain segment of the population, a segment I personally think needs to quit pretending and just be honest about how they think women are inferior. They can go to hell.
I'll stand with Theresa, or even ten paces behind if it is needed to make the point.

24. It has nothing to do with her being a woman |
|
and everything to do with the lack of a valid argument.
Her saying a likeable person person like Laura Bush has never had a real job is not going to help with men or women.
Lots of women consider simply being a good mother being a real job.
