7. We need her to do this a few more times.
Did anybody catch this show? The article was frustratingly vague. What did she say - how much did she say - what was the audience reaction? If Oprah gets onboard, bush is finished.

19. I saw most of the show and it was truly
Amazing..She had all these people on who you see in the link and they all had videos of themselves asking people to register to vote.. and how terribly important it was. You could see these kids were impressed by celebraties talking to them.

Drew Barrymore took a year off and made a documentary about the importance of voting in our Country.

Cameron Diaz related her experiences and was tearing up because it was so vital to vote.

P Diddy has this .."Vote Or Die" campaign..which rings true enough.

Christina Aguilera really got into it and is helping our cause, too.

They didn't name names but you could tell they were talking about saving our Democracy here.

Oprah herself dissed bush at least twice by saying about the ones who were registering that .."This Mission Was Accomplished" and .."THis time No One Was Left Behind"!

Watch some of it here..

8. A few snippets
There was Oprah, doing what she does so freakishly well, cheerleading and extolling and impressing upon, getting women up and getting them angry and demanding that they exercise their hard-won right to vote and demanding that they quit dissing their feminist ancestors, the ones who worked so damn hard for suffrage and for freedom of choice and for the right to tell powerful sexist Republican men where they can shove their repressive sexist antichoice bigotry.
This was her fabulous, much-needed message: Take your rights for granted at your peril, ladies. Move, or else. Choose how you want the laws to treat and respect you and your body -- or someone else, someone who hasn't touched a vagina for 30 years and who thinks sex is only tolerable in the dark, fully clothed and with a respectable prostitute, will choose for you.
<snip>
From demeaning and ineffectual abstinence-only programs to biased counseling to cutting all funding for international women's health organizations that provide care to poor women in third-world nations (hell, Bush hacked that one away in his first month in office), Dubya has done more than any president in the last 100 years to smack women upside their sexually empowered heads.
<snip>
This has been the GOP's message to women since, well, forever: Be like Laura Bush -- submissive, matronly, heavily shellacked and ever flashing a disquieting mannequin grin, off in the corner reading stories to the kids and cutting lots of pretty ceremonial ribbons and keeping quiet about the Important Stuff and never having sex and always be standing just out of the spotlight, secondary and inferior and in the background. You know, right where you belong.
<snip>
Because as Oprah knows, there are powerful men who get it and who love women and who understand their issues and who have cool articulate daughters and opinionated self-defined multilingual firebrand wives (Hi, Teresa), and there are aww-shucks antichoice Texans with lifeless token wives who think your body is government property and you should just pipe down and keep your damn legs closed and go pray to an angry Republican God to forgive your plentiful vagina-induced sins.
Hey, it's your choice. But not for long.

21. Very Good, Bandit!
I saw that show too..you are much more eloquent than I.

That was a very intense show. It was almost surreal the way she was speaking because of that whole arnie blitz.

But..it was truth to power and she certainly doesn't have her head in the sand the way so many do who should know better.

11. The WH has to be shaking in it's boots! Oprah is a very
influential woman! I can't even count how many businesses have either cheered or almost died in the wake of her statements! Books have been million $$ sellers because she backed them, the beef industry almost collapsed because of her.

Sure a re-run would be great, but she has a very big viewer # each day, and they pay attention to what she says.

14. Right On Sister!!! Absolutely MUST READ This Article..link above
from the link..

....This was her fabulous, much-needed message: Take your rights for granted at your peril, ladies. Move, or else. Sound like a cliché? Same ol' quasi-feminist rally message? Not exactly. Not this time. Just imagine this:

Imagine Bush filches another election in November. Nations mourn, black clouds gather, children cry, colons spasm, the remaining shreds of the American experiment wither and die.

And within a very short time, as many as 30 U.S. states have recriminalized abortion and made repressing women and hating sex fun again, as young American females everywhere who thought their right to choose was pretty much incontrovertible and indisputable and unfailing and who therefore didn't bother to vote in '00 or '04 suddenly go, oh holy freaking hell.

Hello, 1950s. Hello, coat-hanger surgery. Hello, millions of despondent daughters....

Gotta Read This..Thanks for the Post kostya

17. Oprah, if you're reading this,here's what you need to cover:
the whole "security mom" issue. A lot of suburban stay-at-home mothers watch your show, and a lot of the young and uninformed ones are apparently swallowing the line about "only Bush can protect your children."

I wrote a LTTE to our local paper after such an article appeared and pointed out that the chances of any suburban Minnesota children being killed by a terrorist are about the same as their being killed by a meteor falling on their school.

The "security moms" are a bunch of airheaded, over-protective ninnies, as far as I'm concerned, but if they get motivated to vote, they could be a factor.
