It is not just for catholics anymore.....
....I just received this email and thought it might help to post this here:

Subject: Calling All Catholics -- PLEASE HELP

If you are outraged at bishops misrepresenting Catholic teaching in an attempt to tilt the election to George W. Bush, keep reading! You are not alone. Catholics around the country are furious that a group of Catholic bishops are distorting Church teaching and misleading people into believing it's a sin to vote for the Democratic ticket. It's actually just a miniscule number of bishops who are making that claim. They don't represent the official body of bishops. In fact, the U.S. Catholic Bishops Conference actually urges Catholics to vote our conscience and to consider a wide range of Church teachings on important issues like healthcare, war, economic justice, poverty, and the environment -- not just stem cell research or abortion.

Catholics around the country are taking action to prevent a handful of bishops from hijacking our faith and misleading people into believing that being Catholic means we have a moral obligation to vote for George W. Bush. We urge you to join us ---- www.CallingAllCatholics.org

HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN DO:

STEP 1: Send this e-mail to every Catholic you know

STEP 2: Pick up the phone and call everyone you e-mailed, as well as any other Catholic you know. (Visit www.CallingAllCatholics.org for a sample phone script & resources). Urge them to e-mail and call every Catholic they know to make sure people understand that the tiny group of bishops saying it's a sin to vote for John Kerry doesn't speak for the official body of U.S. Catholic bishops.

STEP 3: Publicize this effort any way you can --- Call talk radio shows; Post messages on websites & blogs; hand out leaflets at your church; talk to your neighbors and church groups. Flyers and resources are available at www.CallingAllCatholics.org

If everyone does their part, we can reach millions of Catholics by election day.

1. Catholic vote..
I sure can't speak for the majority of Catholics, but I honestly don't know one Catholic friend or family member who supports Bush. Not a one.

One of those things you keep hearing about from the media.. but it doesn't ring true with any of the Catholics I know. NONE OF THEM.

Go figurr
