My son's high school is letting out 2 hours early tomorrow for * |

They just told us today. Bush is coming to the area and they don't want too much traffic. So, to our school system, Bush is way more important than educating the kids...

Is he a conscientious student? To protest, maybe he and his friends could stay at school and, a-hem, STUDY, for those 2 hours! If you can get a big-enough group, call the local media. They'd love a story like that!

for this kind of reason. And...As usual, Bush is in a secure enclosed complex that you really can't demonstrate around...But I like the studying demonstration idea.

Tell them you are already hurting from the bush economy and now have to take two hours off of work because of his visit.
On edit: I didn't see the "highschool" part but this is still ridiculous!

Hey, remember the time Bush said that he wasn't going to attend his daughter's Yale graduation because he didn't want to inconvenience her classmates? He evidently doesn't care about disrupting other people's education ...

I work in a law enforcement job (NO!!! I'm not a cop.. LOL!!).. but I've seen so many different circumstances arise where the schools are released early for varying reasons.
It's common practice to do something like that for *any* event that might seriously disrupt traffic.
The city, the school district, the police, etc... would never hear the end of it if a bus wound up in an accident as a result of a massive traffic jam. They'd take all kinds of flack for not appropriate planning. Leaving at the normal time could also result in some logistical problems, added overtime, loss of homework time, and.. well... you get the point ;)
Alaska is a fire engine red state (oil $$$$$).. but the MAJORITY of teachers are strong Democrats. Still... if the Resident showed up here, like any other significant event that resulted in added traffic, the kids would be released early.
I'll betcha anything they're releasing them for a host of good reasons.. but that not one of them is because it's "Bush".
~~ :)
