KY for KERRY! I'd love to see it...lots of Kerry/Edwards support here! |
|
Took my oldest to the Dr. today. The receptionist loved my Kerry/Edwards button and we talked for a few minutes and she is praying Kerry wins.
Then, I was driving around tonight, doing some house hunting. I ended up in the next county, rather rural, small-townish, rather conservative. I saw Kerry/Edwards signs all over with a smattering of Bush/Cheney. Heading back toward town and passing by high-dollar subdivisions and horse farms I saw an increase in the Bush/Cheney signs but still some Kerry/Edwards on some of the yards. I was really quite surprised.
And then we ended up at a model home of a new subdivision and the realtor there liked my button. She saw I was wearing and asked to herself, "Who is that?" and then she saw it was Kerry/Edwards and she got a big ol' smile and we talked about the election while going through the model home.
I still think Kentucky will go for Bush but I'm betting it ends up being well into the single digits. Far from the 15% by which Bush won in 2000.

1. It may not go for Kerry, but KY should elect Dr. Dan to replace Bunning |
|
Bunning just doesn't have it up there anymore. Please tell me you are campaigning for Dr. Dan. The Kentucky Senate seat could be quite a steal. Here's Dr. Dan's website: www.drdan.com. He is 72% of the way to his funraising goal and he was at 58% just three days ago. Keep the momentum going!

Let's retire the demented Mr. Bunning. You were a great pitcher but a terrible senator.

originally and often go down to Lexington (UK basketball fanatic) or to Richmond. The signs in Louisville are big for Kerry/Edwards in the Highlands, Crescent Hill and St Matthews...even in Fern Creek to some extent. People do not put many in Old Louisville because they just get stolen. Our grass roots committee has been working hard and we have had some massive rallies at which we have signed up volunteers for important action like going to Cincy and intersection rallies(we get lots of toots) and registering and just appearing at festivals in our t-shirts. I am excited. In my senior English class today my students let me know how much they liked my Kerry button. One girl asked if she could have the pin and now has it to wear in her neighborhood. Hardly anyone in that class liked Bush. Some of them are old enough to vote. I have been canvassing in my neighborhood; there are several Republicans going for Kerry. There is much enthusiasm. Many influential Republicans in Kentucky have come out for Kerry, including the Browns of Brown Forman, the son of a former moderate Republican Senator, Thruston Morton, and one of our former a Republican Senators, Marlowe Cook, wrote three columns on today's editorial page, specifying why Bush should be defeated. I am sorry this is so long.

I have spent hours per day reading this forum since I discovered it a few weeks ago and now I'm sticking my toe in the water and making my first post. I live in Lexington, Ky., and I went to the local Democratic HQ today to get a yard sign and a bumper sticker. They were completely out of the yard signs (both K/E and Mongiardo)! They said that they had given out 6,000 K/E signs and, for comparison, they only gave out about 3,500 Gore signs in 2000. I was there for about 10 minutes and they had 3 calls asking for signs while I was there. Now, I don't think that Kerry will win Ky, but I think Mongiardo will... at least I hope he does.
