Robertson said almost the exact same thing on HARDBALL on 6/22!!
BROWN: I want to ask you how you feel about the war in Iraq. And if God is calling this war a disaster, does that mean that he is actually opposed to it?

ROBERTSON: Well, I don‘t think God‘s opposed to the war, necessarily, but it was a danger sign. I felt very uneasy about it from the very get-go. Whenever I heard about it, I knew it was going to be trouble. I warned the president. I only met with him once. I said, You better prepare the American people for some serious casualties. And he said, Oh, no, our troops are, you know, so well protected, we don‘t have to worry about that. But it has been messy. And I think we‘re going to come out of it, though. I think we‘ll have a free Iraq. But it certainly has been a mess so far.

27. Someone has to do it!
Maybe we could get mini "journalism" degrees for doing such deep work.
I can think of 2 dozen DUers that would earn them right off the bat!

6. "Well, I don‘t think God‘s opposed to the war, "
Anyone who's in a position of authority or influence should never say such a thing.

8. As much as I despise Tim Russert's typical slant
He's the only current TV journalist who seems to do a good job retrieving old quotes and nailing the candidate/politician with them. Hardly surprising no one on the major networks bothered to cross-check Robertson's comment with others he made on the same topic.

9. I remember Robertson saying something like this a while ago.

I didn't sense that Robertson was lying.

Maybe this interview is what I remember, but I don't know. He might have said it elsewhere also. It's worth looking into.

Apparently there was no denial at the time about this from Bush or his minions, at least none that I've heard of.

My gut feeling is that Robertson is telling the truth about this.

13. He says - "I think we‘ll have a free Iraq. "
Who the heck is he - Pat Robertson? Who is God or who is any of us open our mouths to say that we have to make Iraq free. What the heck is it about our pompous and assanine minds that we have to go in and save someone politically? This is so ridiculous, why can't people see it.

We didn't have to go into Iraq. We didn't have to go into Haiti. We didn't have to try to takeover Venezuela. And that is just in the last 1 1/2 year.

Who the heck do we think we are?

Let other people be.

If you going in to rob the oil or any other earth resource - admit it. And stop it.

29. Not quite the same thing. But close.
His statement this time was that * said there would NO casualties.

The statement you've posted above says that * said there wouldn't be "that." Robertson had just referred to "serious casualties." So could be * was referring to "no serious casualties." Meaning not a lot of casualties.
