By STEVE LeBLANC, Associated Press Writer
BOSTON - This three-car pile up brought to you by ... George Bush (news - web sites). Drivers in battleground states are hearing live radio traffic reports sponsored by the Bush-Cheney campaign, apparently the first presidential ticket to adopt an approach typically favored by car dealerships.
The ads are bracketed around regular traffic reports. An announcer reads "this traffic report is paid for by Bush-Cheney '04" and then launches into the traffic update.
At the end of the report, the announcer reads a brief campaign message: "John Kerry (news - web sites) recently called terrorism a nuisance — like gambling and prostitution — prompting foreign policy experts to question if Kerry understands the war on terror. President Bush (news - web sites) approved this message."
The Bush campaign said the goal is to link the president's message to one of the most-listened-to features on Drive Time radio. Is there NO standard of truth for these jerks?!?

4. The good thing about this |
|
Is that it will associate *'s name with how much the gas they are wasting idling in traffic now costs, and who had a lot to do with getting it there.
Two things I remember from the '00 campaign. One was Bush when asked about bicycles as transportation, said "Good economy, they will be able to afford a car". (after all they don't burn oil, what good are they), The second related quip regarded hybrid vehicles. He was queried about tax incentives for hybrid ownership, and his response was either (memory a little fuzzed) "nobody would want one" or "who has one" (Duh, the idea of an incentive is to promote their ownership).
At this point, the wait for a new Prius, is at least 6 months, and that is in spite of Toyota deciding to double imports. The dealer has called to ask if we want to part with our '01...
While the gas price is less of a concern with me (after all I do vote with my feet (bicycle) much of the time), I am afraid of what a winter as bad as last year will do to our heating bill.
