If he's up to it, what states would you like Clinton most to stump in?

I'm glad Bill Clinton is making his comeback to the campaign trail in Philadelphia--a key state and a key city where he has lots of support. If I were the Kerry campaign handlers and the Big Dawg said, "I'm ready--send me anywhere you need me"--these are the places I would send him:

Arkansas--naturally--I'm surprised Arkansas isn't getting more attention because the polls I've seen indicate a close race.

Milwaukee and/or Madison, WI we would love to have Bill here and he could excite the base like no one can. Also, the polls (while encouraging of late) are still tight.

Cleveland--a key city in a key state with a big African-American population and some black leaders have called Clinton, "the first African-American president."

West Virginia--Clinton carried the state easily twice--he can talk the language of the folks there.

St. Louis/ Kansas City--I still think Missouri is winnable and besides he could help McCaskill too.

Detroit--I know this state seems solid for Kerry but I think it would be a nice shot in the arm for the good folks of Detroit to have a Democratic all-star come to the state to rally.

Your thoughts?

Florida, and then Florida, and for a bit of a difference Florida...and New Mexico and Nevada....perhaps Texas too just for shits and giggles!
;-)

Coyul

On edit, we just had another 900 Union members laid off today in the Detroit area, a waste of time for Clinton. Most folks here would rather hang the shrub, than vote for him!

17. maybe so
but that is why I would put him in places and events which generate excitement among the base: Philly, Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee, Madison, St. Louis, KC, and West Virginia.

21. That is actually wrong.
The only Republicans that don't like Clinton are Freeper types, which unfortunately is about 40% of the population.

I, for one, know Republicans that would vote for the Democrat this time around if it was Clinton.

14. Florida
The warmer weather in Florida will be good for him during his recovery. He can stump a little for John Kerry, but also take care of himself and get some rest in the sun.

Ohio - WV, maybe a little PA. All within a bus ride, easy for a person recovering from heart surgery.

Would take a huge venue to hold everyone though. The Big Dog in Arkansas would deliver the state.

He needs to spend a lot of time in Cleveland and Columbus. African Americans love him and will turn out in strong numbers if he shows up and asks them to vote for Kerry.

23. Where they should send Bill
Edited on Wed Oct-20-04 10:40 PM by dolstein
In addition to Philadelphia, they should send him to:

1. Milwaukee, Wisconsin
2. Cleveland, Ohio
3. St. Louis, Missouri (if Kerry's within striking distance)
4. Dvuall County, Florida
5. Little Rock, Arkansas

He should limit himself to one event per day, and he should spend the last 72 hours of the campaign in Arkansas, and spend much of that time giving interviews to the local news.
