Nebraska Can Split Electoral Vote
10/19/04

A small group of John Kerry backers is trying to get the word out on a well kept secret about the electoral system in Nebraska.

They want voters to know Nebraska is one of only two states in the country that can split its electoral vote.

And that means they’re making every effort to grab one or two of those votes for their candidate.

2. Both? I think there are three...
and one of them includes Omaha and the college town of Lincoln. What is the voting history of that district?

We DO have a very real shot at 1 district, heavy republican yes, but VERY moderate, and people are not happy. I'm not overly optimistic, but I'm busting my ass to try to make it happen.

The 1st district has an open congressional seat on the line, and the pug candidate is a fundie (who has only lived here a few years). The moderate pugs I know can't stand the guy. The Dem is a lifetime resident, rancher, moderate/conservative Dem. It is quite possible the 1st district could go blue.

Like I said I'm not overly optimistic, but I'll keep working until 8pm on Nov 2.

on edit: This is the Lincoln area (college, state govt center). Dist 2 is Omaha, highly unlikely. Dist 3 is the rest of the state, NEVER happen, former football coach is Rep out there, and its not going to budge.

History, last time Dems won the state was a long f-ing time ago. at least 40 -50 years.
