Upriver: The Long War of John Kerry--Anyone else seen...
Edited on Wed Oct-20-04 11:33 PM by libbygurl
... this excellent documentary? A very moving portrait of young Kerry as Vietnam vet activist against the war. Required viewing for all, methinks.

The passion and eloquence of John Kerry during his appearance before the Senate is simply marvelous!

Just wondered where all that went during his Senate years. Surely he can tap into that strong moral core and courage when he becomes President?!

1. Did too :-)
On the day it came out here in Dallas Texas! Posted a rave review here and took groups of friends to see it.

I should get the DVD in tomorrow for a screening for my students this weekend.

It was sheer poetry...

3. 1st-welcome to DU! Glad to know it did play in theaters somewhere!...
...but certainly not in my small town in Appalachia. Feel like giving copies to my Bush-voting colleagues at work, do you think it'll help? (Many will vote for Bush because their church told them to do so! What ever happened to rational thinking? And these are highly educated, so-called professionals, too!)

4. Wish I could see it on the big screen! But, thank goodness for DVDs!
Otherwise, I'd never get to see it where I live. So it'll be screening at a theater near you, too?

As of last Friday it was playing at two theatres in the area. You can check the website to see if it is anywhere near where you live.

6. Not yet.

We're hosting a moveon "Upriver" party Saturday for about twenty to forty friends. Looking forward to it. Someone is bringing a tape of Kerry's testimony too.

I ran into some friends tonight protesting outside our local Sinclair station who had seen it. They both said they were now voting for Kerry, not just against Bush. They highly recommended it.

10. Saw it at the movies when it came out
great film and made me admire Kerry more than I already did. Too bad films like that can't go on tv.

18. I saw Going Up River in Waterville, Maine this week.
I saw it in the same theater where I saw F 9-11. When F-11 first came out, this theater was one of only two in the whole state of Maine showing the film. Up River is awesome and Sinclair should show it uninterrupted and preempt their schedule to do it. Hey, if they can do it for bushie, why not be fair and do it for Kerry? We all know that won't happen, don't we?
