Ny Times Blasts Administration on Terror Scare Scams
"As the election draws near, the Bush campaign grows ever more irresponsible in its effort to scare Americans into believing that voting for John Kerry will bring on another terrorist attack."

<clip>

"There is a real danger in having leaders so lacking in credibility on this vital issue: if they ever deliver a real warning, it could be discounted by a large segment of the population, and that could really put hundreds of thousands of lives at risk."

<clip>

Damn good point.

Lots more:

1. Maybe when the NYT's fires Judith Miller

I will think about taking them seriously again. This is just another example of too little, too late. If the NYT's is truly seeing the light, then they need to put their money where their mouth is and come clean. Maybe they can start with Judy telling the world who the hell told her about Valarie Plame? We could save the country a lot of the time and money we are wasting on a grand jury if NYT's would just come clean.

BTW: Welcome to DU :hi:

3. Wow friendly place
I've gotten several hello waves- much appreciated.

It's definitely late (er, not the wave, the Times editorial)

Too late? -- hope not. It's not all that little though, IMO.

I think the media clowns still have a secret part that thinks print is more legit than they are, and still thinks that the NYT is also, despite wherever they fall on whatever else they think of it. So enough sheer volume of this from print, i.e. the endorsements, and it worms its way into their tiny vain little brains..

just keep it coming, world, more and more, and more....

2. Good!
I read some article about the Bushies blaming Dean and Clark for the fact that they couldn't have all the alerts they should be having or some such nonsense. I guess pointing out they are manipulating the public with these alerts wasn't cool. They ruined all the fun! They are getting really defensive. Now if they had evidence that ONE of their idiotic terror alerts was valid or even useful, they wouldn't be so defensive like, 'Well, it isn't our fault if a terror attack really happens. Because Dean exposed our crass political motives, when we put out a real terror alert, no one is going to take it seriously.'

4. "the hand of Providence"
fuck, I hate John Ashcroft

I hope the day soon comes that we see ALL of these half-wits half-naked in a pile, the only problem is they would probably enjoy every minute of it.
