One important point about the polls.... |
|
As DUer, DemocracyInAction, noted on another thread, the Bush people are very "nervous". Not because they are ahead in the polls, but because they are not ahead in the polls in the battleground states. What does it matter if they are ahead in the national polls, if they are behind in states like PA, OH, FL, WI, MN, or NM ??If they are 10 points ahead in the polls in Kansas or Utah, it doesn't really mean much in the big picture. That's why Mr Bush is in PA today. They understand the reality of the election, if they don't understand anything else. Keep our eyes on the polls in the battleground states and forget the national polls for the time being. That's where this election will be won or lost.

1. They Also Know They're Below 50% in the Nationals |

and that all the tricks, attacks, and politicking they counted on to take Kerry down have been ineffective. I'm beginning to see exactly what the long-time Kerry supporters have said about his strong closing instincts and his immunity to cries of "liberal."
I think the Republican panic is largely due to the fact that they simply don't have any ammo left and there's nothing they can do that will change the trend.

2. And time is not on their side.... |

Mr Bush has to decide where he wants to be today and tomorrow. He's going to decide to be in OH, PA, MO, IA, or WI...He might would like to go to CA again but the time is ticking away from him.
