I first heard it on ABC nightly news then I heard it on Hardball last night. If we have this state and PA in hand, that would be a nice starting point.

1. Add in the 5% Kerry lead in WI per today's NPR/Norbert poll, and I
feel better!

:-)

10. Kerry Widens Gap in Wisconsin

Kerry Widens Gap in Wisconsin

The newest poll from right here in the battleground state of Wisconsin shows Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry now inching ahead of President Bush.

St. Norbert College and Wisconsin Public Radio surveyed people who said they would likely vote on November 2nd. Forty-eight percent said they support Senator Kerry, while 43 percent support President Bush.

If you factor in the five percent margin of error, the state is still up for grabs.

2. I think that Kerry has a good chance of picking up all three "big states"
Pennsylvania looks like Bush is giving up, Ohio is trending our way in a big way, and Florida is also trending our way, but I wouldn't put anything past Jeb, so who knows....

5. The Bush internals must say the same thing ??
They're bringing in the Termninator Schwartzenegger, their Party's secret weapon, into Ohio to assist Bush.

6. This explains Chimpy's relentless campaigning there
Which means he has less time to go to Florida (which is good) or to any of several other states, which is also good.

I think heading into the election, the Bush campaign probably figured Ohio for a close but relatively easy victory, and that Bush would be spending most of his time and money trying to win back Pennsylvania and holding on to Florida. The West Coast has apparently been written off by Bush, which will hurt his chances in Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico, all of which he probably was counting on to win. Colorado appears to be in play as well.

So, I say let Chimpy go make his canned speeches before his canned crowds, and the real job of campaigning will be done by the Democrats.

Get out the vote; Kerry in a landslide.

7. This might explain yet another Bush visit to Pa. today

If Rove/Mehlman are now seeing Ohio slip away, they need another big state to make up the difference. So they send Bush barnstorming through northern Alabama, i.e. nonurban Pennsylvania, to pump up the Guns-'n-God crowd.

11. Not so fast
I think bush is targeting Wisconsin, Minnesota and Florida. He hasn't been on Ohio in awhile. I wonder what the Pubs internals say?

That is his winning ticket. All he has to do is pick up 2. He will stay in Pa to divert resources, but Ohio, in my opinion, it is looking good.

I read about mixed messages coming out of Wisconsin. Is it tied?, Bush or Kerry leading? What is the average of the 3 recent polls? In Minnesota I am also worried. Kerry needs to take that state. If he can win Minnesota, Wisconsin and Ohio (no reason he shouldn't) then it is game set match. If Ohio goes Kerry, Pa goes Kerry and NJ is a comfortable Kerry win.

All I want is Kerry to be between tied and 2 points down on election day and he will win.

That said the national polls are a little deflating. I know there is a LV problem with the polls, but I wish the pollsters would acknowledge their limitations. I think Zogby has it right. This race is tied, it is GOTV or bust.
