i kept hoping for a Lonesome Rhodes moment during the debates. maybe he'll implode between now and the 2nd, though.

5. A character from the movie "A Face in the Crowd"
with Andy Griffith as Lonesome Rhodes. A very "Bush-like" character who fools the public with his "down-home style." A very cautionary satire with a message that has a lot of meaning for today. Rent the movie if you can, it's awesome!

3. A Face In The Crowd
1957

Great Novel, made into a movie. Andy Griffith , a hobo, made into a national celeb;
that falls prey to a darker political ambition through the manipulation of media.

4. At least Lonesome Rhodes could sing and play the guitar well...

One of the best film scripts ever written. Rent it, everyone, and you'll never see Andy Griffith in the same way again. A towering performance as one of the most frightening characters ever!

6. Right! I remember that. Only saw it once, several years ago.

One big distinction. Wasn't Rhodes an innocent, good-hearted doofus? Does that describe *?

(Like I said, it's been several years)

7. Well that is how he started out. Good hearted and innocent

until he was seduced by the power he forged from his TV personna.

But I think he was more intelligent than the chimp and more talented as well as his own person. May Bush end up the same way. This is a great analogy.

Read the book, see the film. Both are wonderful
