What Is Your Mood Right Now? How's Your Gut?
Things seem to be moving extremely quickly lately, but I've seemed to fall into an almost meditative state. I'm neither panicking, nor over-confident. I'm a bit nervous, but generally I feel good about the direction things are heading. Well, that's not entirely accurate. It's more like I feel that things are going to be what they are going to be, and we will be so screwed if Bush wins that it is hard for me to entertain the thought.

The polls look roughly even, and I can't see anything changing them radically at this late stage. Sure, there may be something huge coming up, but I really would have thought it would have come by now to let it sink into the populace. So I can't say I expect it.

I think most people have settled already, and if they haven't it is much worse for Bush as the incumbent (and I think they know this). I think the folks that bother to head to the polls will do so for change more than to ensure the status quo they are probably not thrilled about.

I'm not sure if the finality of it all hasn't hit me yet, or I'm just getting into the zone. I live in Jersey, so it isn't like I'm all that concerned that Kerry won't carry here or any of the blue states that surround me (maybe I should be taking buses down to the Philly suburbs), but I almost feel like the race has begun to lock into place already.

The prospect of a lengthy court battle is certainly on the horizon, but all I can really think in that direction is "Ugh."

I guess I have alot of subtle emotions going on that would take awhile to untangle, so I'm wondering how other people are feeling right about now.

Final note: One thing I am sure of - Kerry will make one hell of a President.

5. This made me feel better....

http://www.latimes.com/news/yahoo/la-fg-expats20oct20,1,2323916,print.story

Great article in the LA Times yesterday about the massive number of Americans living abroad who are gearing up to vote in record numbers, against Bush. Registration required, but a good read for sure.

I'm really just afraid of their brown-shirts, their storm-troopers; a lot of people think 'it can't happen here', and they couldn't be more wrong.

I think that in a fair election, Bush is going to get trounced.

Knowing there are people calling him unAmerican. Mine too. I get so damned emotional I lose effectiveness when someone ridicules him with Bush talking points.

Hell, some of these people say they don't like Bush. SO WHY ARE YOU REPEATING HIS LIES!

Kerry will make one HELL of a president if the country will give him a chance. The guy over at Pat Buchanan's magazine is wrong. Kerry will be a two-termer. They misunderestimate him.

29. aw, keep your chin up!
Kerry's been through much, much worse than this election. True, all of his past experience has brought him to this moment, but he is proving he is more than up to the job!

Politicians are usually seasoned enough to get through turbulent times (I think both Bill and Hillary write about this). Compare to the chimpys and the cheneys, who get hysterical over every little comment. Their immaturity as people is showing through.

I think it's time for the country to grow up and pick the only mature, reasoned, and sane candidate.

...its going to be a memorable one.I feel great about Kerry's chances.I am sick of the media kissing up to Bush every chance they get but I have mostly tuned them out as of late.I also worry about voter fraud but am hoping for the best. One thing I have noticed is that my loathing for Bush is getting stronger and stronger each passing day to be honest I really can't stand to listen to that sack of crap speak, just the sound of his voice gets on my nerves.

I am trying to prepare for the possibilites of election day,I think Kerry can win but I also know the repugs aren't going to let this one go without a fight.I am hoping Kerry wins a clear victory on Nov.2nd but preparing for the idea of another drawn out ordeal over it.

Hoping for the best and preparing for the worst is what I am doing.

An incumbent under 50% at this stage is in big trouble.

I'm worried to a certain extent about voter fraud.

As for what kind of President Kerry would make, I'm concerned. I expect a Republican-controlled Congress, and need I say anything about the "liberal" media?

Nonetheless, Kerry will rebuild our alliances and train Iraqis to defend themselves.

27. I have a good feeling about this.
I'm not that superstitious, so I'm saying that I think John Kerry will win the race, and that I have some good reasons for doing so.

The undecideds have known Bush for 4 years - there's little he could do further surprising to win them over. Kerry, on the other hand, is a challenger that looks up to the task, and all that is seperating an undecided from a Kerry voter is a bit of time.

30. Optimistic, with an asterisk
And the asterisk is: I watched the CBC hearings about voter preparedness last week on CSPAN while visiting out of town and remember them quoting Jimmy Carter as saying that our elections processes are set up for another repeat of 2000, possibly on a bigger scale.

I don't relish that thought at all.

BUT I think Kerry will win.

31. Almost giddy
The polls, the internals of the polls -- the 50% rule, the right/wrong track -- are all moving in our favor. We have survived the Swifties and Mary Cheney, not to mention four years of one of the worst presidencies in the history of the republic. The American people are (probably) not as gullible as I feared.

But that doesn't mean I won't be working all day, every day the last four days of the election to help get out the vote. It ain't over til its over.

And I just ponied up some more hard-earned money for the Democratic Party's final push.

I want to know that I did my small part to put the nail in that fucker's coffin.

i'm beginning to hit the point of "letting go" of the actual result, and allowing the natural flow of things to just go as they will go. (i'm very new-agey).

my greatest faith is in the system itself, and i think that all these attempts at voter fraud run a greater risk for the gop than they do the dems.

last night, i was in my car and my gut just told me that it was going to be kerry. i live in greater cleveland and passing a gas station and looking at the gas prices was just the "click" that began the process of my moving from a type of desperation to a greater sense of calm concerning the campaign.

perhaps the most comforting thought in all of this: we are dealing with a group of people who, above all, exist within a world dominated by their hubris. what has it bought them? the person who was president on 9/11 was handed a landside reelection on a silver platter, especially the moment afghanistan was invaded. in their hubris, they failed to believe that the silver platter wasn't itself something permanent. they've spent that capital. from the moment the republican convention opened, until the closing moment of the first debate, their hubris never once allowed them to believe they would lose. to them they are the winners because they neglect to accept anyone can or would stand against them.

if they win legitimately, then i start the fight for '06. on the other hand, somewhere inside of me believes kerry will win. it's not an excuse to stop fighting for that kerry win, but i feel better about it today than i have any day since kerry's acceptance speech.

This election has consumed my life. I can't watch the news but I can't not watch it. I need to get stuff done but I am distracted by the what ifs. Just the thought of Kerry not winning makes me physically ill and angry. I actually make plans for recourse if the election is stolen. I feel like a obsessive/compulsive anxiety ridden dyslexic ADD psychotic who could lose it at any moment.

On the other hand I will have one hell of a party on November 3rd when Kerry is our new President.

38. How's my gut????
Tied up in knots!

I'm sick with anticipation. Who knows what will happen? We thought Gore would win. Well, he did but a corrupt judiciary and corrupt GOP stole the victory. The compliant media just sat back and watched.

It could happen again. Bush won't go without a fight - even if he loses the EV.

So, my gut is pretty beat up right now. I'm scared for my children's future, and I'm scared for the future of the world. If Bush stays in the White House, we can kiss what we know of America goodbye. Goodbye land of freedom, liberty, and opportunity. Hello fear, terror, dirty skies, and oil wells in Alaska.

Yep, my gut is not good right now. Too much is at stake for me to be relaxed.

40. My Gut Tells Me The Dark Force Is LOSING IT.
The worst, worst thing for them was the debates. The media is going out of their way to minimize the effect.

First they spend months hammering Kerry, that he's incompetent, dangerous, unpatriotic.

Then he beats GWB who ended up looking like a desperate monkey -- they were trying to sell us a product, when you see the real person, there is no way to unspin the damage. A lot of people SAW. And then they saw the frantic media shrub spin and maybe they put two & two together and realized they've been getting played all this time.

42. nervous- part of me thinks that Kerry will outperform all expections
a.k.a "landslide", and part of me thinks that that's what Chimpy's people are thinking, too- in their favor. So who's right? Polling doesn't seem to validate anyone's perceptions since polls are largely inaccurate and many people are not being counted at all (cellphones, and people with caller ID who don't want to be bothered).

So, I feel extremely nervous. I really feel another 4 years of this will ruin our country/world and don't know if I can fare it pyschologically either. The domination of "TERROR" as the new American mindset is too horible and stressful- I buy into Kerry's vision completely.
