OBAMA

Quote: snip:

The pundits, the pundits like to slice and dice our country into red states and blue states; red states for Republicans, blue states for Democrats. But I've got news for them, too. We worship an awesome God in the blue states, and we don't like federal agents poking around our libraries in the red states.

We coach Little League in the blue states and have gay friends in the red states.

There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq and patriots who supported it.

We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America.

In the end, that's what this election is about. Do we participate in a politics of cynicism or do we participate in a politics of hope?

John Kerry calls on us to hope. John Edwards calls on us to hope. I'm not talking about blind optimism here-the almost willful ignorance that thinks unemployment will go away if we just don't talk about it, or the health care crisis will solve itself if we just ignore it.

Keyes

Quote:snip:

If we do not know who the mother is, who the father is, without knowing all the brothers and sisters, incest becomes inevitable,"

"Whether they mean it or not, that is what will happen. If you are masked from your knowing your biological parents, you are in danger of encountering brothers and sisters you have no knowledge of."

1. I take it...
...that Mr. Keyes is also against adoption. I mean, if you don't know who your mother and father are, INCEST BECOMES INEVITABLE! Wow, in Mr. Keyes world, apparently everyone boinks everyone else, except the same-sex and blood-relatives of course.

15. Interesting ... the questioner gave Keyes an opening
to acknowledge his daughter is a lesbian ... in a circumstance where one of your children, as a parent, would come to you and express that they're a homosexual<[/i> (paraphrase)... and Keyes wouldn't even MENTION his own child !!!

WTF !!

5. This is a great debate.
Keyes is so animated it looks like he's teaching an aerobics class! Meanwhile, Obama just talks directly to the voter, as if he's in on the joke. Great!

9. Oh my. This is a smart closing statement by Obama.
"This debate has only discussed the hotbutton issues. That's fine. I'll talk about them. But these are the issues Keyes is running his campaign on. But these aren't the issues that people around the state are asking me about when I talk to them. People are asking me about jobs and opportunity. Keyes can't talk about these issues because he doesn't believe the government has a role to play in addressing these problems..."

(Keyes responds: morality is what it's all about. We should only address morality. Uhm, Mr Keyes, how moral is it for the government not to make people's lives better when it's within its power.)
