BBV - TX - ES&S iVotronic Machines - Straight Democratic Ticket
Sometimes selects straight Republican ticket.

Sample size on these reports is very small.

This needs to be watched by all poll watchers monitoring polls with ES&S machines.

10. Here's a complaint form for Texas
Have anyone who experiences problems at the polls fill one out and submit it to the Secretary of State to document what is going on. :)

3. I was told at the NC Dem HQ never vote straight ticket
because errors can occur.

Very interesting.

13. NCarolinians, be careful! Yesterday I caught part of a radio
program in NC and they were saying that you CANNOT vote a straight ticket in NC. If you attempt to, only a portion of the ticket will be recorded. I think they were saying that the Presidential candidates had to be picked separate from the rest of the ticket. This was supposedly passed by the Democrats years ago.

14. That is correct!
According to the NC State Board of Elections web site which says the following,

"Straight Party Voting: Votes cast for president, non-partisan offices, and state or local referendum are separate from a straight party vote. For further information, ask your precinct official when you go to vote."

4. I am researching how to keep my ballot
from being a straight ticket vote - I want them to count my pres vote because they also really want my vote for the puke. So I am looking for the least of all evils.

12. If I understand what you're saying correctly you might misunderstand.....
.....the 'straight ticket' problem with the machines. It's only when you use the 'straight ticket' option that you have a problem. If you vote in each race separately, there is no problem. :)

8. you mean the touchscreens?
We have the es&s optical scan machines here. I'm a county poll worker. Is there anything problematic I need to keep my eye out for? Anybody know?

9. Optical Scan equipment is generally very reliable.....
.....as long as all of the ballots are marked with the same implements that the machine was calibrated with.

If the machine was calibrated for marks made with a number 2 soft pencil, make sure everyone is being given a number 2 soft pencil to mark their ballot, if it was calibrated for marks made with a black pen, make sure all of the pens used are exactly the same. Different inks may not show up the same way to the sensor in the scanner. Other than that you're in good shape. :)

If you are there for the actual count, that's another story.
