How Clark (or any other dem) will compete with Bush's $ |
|
For those of you who still think that Clark will be drowned out in the airwaves because he accepted matching funds.
"I'd like to inform you about an exciting opportunity to help elect Wesley Clark. A new political action committee, called The General Fund has been put together by one of the Draft Clark founders, Bud Jackson. This is a legitimate, unaffiliated political action committee that is focused on helping elect Wesley Clark President of the United States.
Right now we are purchasing radio time for an ad we have produced to run in Iowa's major radio markets. Your contribution will purchase air time and immediately go towards funding our effort to get the word out about Wes.
Though the initial efforts have been directed toward Iowa, The General Fund plans to undertake efforts to support Wesley Clark in other states as their caucuses and primaries approach. After Clark wins the Democratic nomination, the committee will help defeat George Bush in the general election.
We strongly encourage you to donate as much as you can afford to the official Clark for President campaign. However, donating to The General Fund provides an excellent opportunity to those people who have maxed out their contributions directly to the Clark campaign, but want to do more.
We can make a difference. However, the clock is ticking. If we are to make difference, and to help show that Wesley Clark is a viable, electable alternative to George Bush, your help is needed right now. Please go to www.general04.com and donate today!

Clark will be fine. You don't get to be a 4-star general w/o doing some parallel planning.

I thought that before this Clark supporters only said that PACs would form to fill in the gaps but could not point to PACs that would run pro-Clark ads with certainty. Wasn't it claimed that Move On and others would only run anti-Bush ads?

4. I thought organizations couldn't |

use money to support one candidate? Like Moveon...
How come this organization can use the money to support Clark and Moveon can't?

Not without violating campaign finance laws. What they can do, however, is air issue ads- which is what Ickes' media fund is going to do- and on the issues, Republican positions are not only unpopular, but frequently corrupt, irrational and self destructive.
However, limitations on spending due to the acceptance of matching funds will be a severe tactical limitation on any Democratic candidate, other than John Kerry and Howard Dean. The Republican lie and smear machine will be in full blast between May and Septemeber, and there will be little that any campaign that has accepted matching funds can do to counter its constant drone of negativity.

7. It's not the medium, it's the message! |

Americans will not elect a president who was opposed to the war on terror or the war to liberate Iraq. Only Joe Lieberman, as a strong supporter of both, is electable. If you have lots of money to communicate, but spread the wrong message, you're not going to win the election.
And the most important thing in this election is winning. Period.
