I read an interview where he said he would replace them with something more meaningful, because no one even understands what to do with the stupid color alerts. His point was that we need better and faster notification to law enforcement, and a more coordinated effort.

I don't have a problem with the color alerts. If there is information, I think the public should be told and colors help people understand.

But what Ashcroft has done in making obviously politically motivated announcements is inexcusable. When Kerry has his choice of AG, we son't have to worry about that crap.
