Bunning continues to lose it (KY US senate race)
Bunning has been wigging out as you know... racist comments, Telepromptergate, rumors about his mental state, refusing debates, crazy rants... it's been fun. Bunning had a 26-point lead over Mongiardo at one point, and the latest polls have them locked up. But it continues to get weirder...

NBC's Meet the Press asked Mongiardo and Bunning to appear this Sunday - which shows how important this race is becoming. Mongiardo's camp accepted yesterday, Bunning's declined today.

HA!

And here's a transcript of tonight's WDRB-TV broadcast in Louisville - worthy of another HA!:

Anchor: "...Senator Bunning then competently talked about his work on national issues and Kentucky concerns."

Reporter: "What’s your thoughts about the reservists who refused to go on a mission because they said they weren’t properly armed?"

Bunning: "I don’t know anything about that, but all I can tell you is…"

Anchor: "When he met with reporters, things went down hill when Bunning indicated he was not aware of last weeks rebellious reserve unit in Iraq."

Bunning: "Let me explain something, I don’t watch the national news and I don’t’ read the paper. I haven’t done that for the last six weeks. I watch Fox News to get my information."

Anchor: "That lead to a question as to whether the Senator is out-of-touch."

Bunning: "That’s unfair, and you know it is, that is totally and completely unfair, of course I’m not unaware. Did you listen to me talk today?"

Anchor: "Senator Bunning who seems to like the sparing says it is the citizens not the news media who will elect him."

6. If Bunning wins (and there is a good chance he will)...
...it will confirm the United States has become a fascist dictatorship ruling over a citizenry of morons.

13. If he wins, what is the procedure for replacement when he has to
resign for "health reasons" shortly thereafter? Governor appoints or special election?

15. Governor appoints... and in this case, appoints himself to the position.
So goes the rumor, anyway.

2. so Fox is not reporting on the members who refused orders ?
no surprise, viewers of fox are most likely to think there was a saddam 9/11 connection and that we found wmd in iraq.

Totally ignorant, no desire to seek out facts. The whole frickin' republican party is out-of-touch.

I wouldn't be surprised to see this idiot win, because there are a whole lot of idiots out there.

5. Go Mongoiardo...
want to talk about someone with a dismal Congressional record...try Bunning...the only time you saw him on TV is when baseball went on strike. Major loser with a capital "L".

8. Thank you for posting this update.
What are the papers/news reports saying in Kentucky, exactly? Is there really a surge for Dr. M and is Bunning really in free-fall?

The Political Oddsmaker < www.campaignline.com > still has Bunning an easy winner. Should we be sending an update?

If Bunning is really ill, I wonder why the damned GOP people wont' get him some help? Someone's mental health is a hell of a lot more important than winning a senate seat.

10. There is a lot of buzz
The Louisville Courier-Journal and Lexington Herald Leader have both endorsed Mongiardo. I live in Mongiardo country (se KY) and there are Mongiardo signs everywhere. I think he's going to pull this off.

As far as the polls... Garin-Heart-Yang has them locked up, while SurveyUSA still has Bunning up by a big margin.

11. I think because the Republican Gov can appoint his replacement
if Bunning is unable to serve. That may be the plan.

14. That's the rumor
Bunning wins, resigns for health reasons and the repuke governor Fletcher appoints himself to the seat (they already hate him in Frankfort).
