Bernard Kerik:Just another 9-11 opportunist douche bag |
|
Watching the re-run of the town hall meeting with BushCo. supporter Paula Zahn and Wes Clark.
The Repugs have been sending this guy all around since their convention. Near as I can tell, he was an asst. police cheif in NYC on 9-11. His answer to every question is "9-11 this and 9-11 that. Terra Terra Terra!"
My question, why is Karl Rove trotting out some low level city official on a national campaign. Clark is abusing him too. Good stuff.

4. Actually it's even worse than that. When Giuliani became Mayor, |
|
he chose William Bratton as his Police Comm. Crime started going way down and Bratton was deservedly given much of the credit. Giuliani didn't like seeing someone else get the credit he believed was rightfully his, so he got rid of Bratton. As if to prove that the Police Comm had very little to do with the drop in crime, Giuliani chose a nobody, the Comm of the Dep't of Corrections, to serve as his next Police Comm. Look at Kerik's pre 9/11 record; Nobody would ever attribute a drop in crime to any special talent that he brought to the job. His reason for being there was to demonstrate that under Mayor Giuliani, anyone could be a successful Police Comm. Because he got a lot of face time on and after 9/11, people have been given the false impression that he must be an expert on something. His lack of talent and his willingness to bend over for shrubco were on display tonight as Wes Clark cleaned his clock.

Even the well-oiled Republican media machine can malfunction from time to time.
Case in point, the first presidential debate. What could they say? ;)

6. He works for Giuliani's consulting firm nowadays... |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-22-04 02:45 AM by Princess Turandot
he was the Police Commissioner on 9-11; the guy who had been the Commissioner for much of Giuliani's second term, whose name was Howard Safire, retired because of (I think) health problems & Kerik replaced him.

7. You are correct. Giuliani's first selection designed to demonstrate |
|
that it didn't matter who the Police Comm was, was the selection of Howard Safir, who at the time was Fire Comm. Kerik later replaced Safir. It really shouldn't be surprising that all these folk have gone into business together; they share the nexus of their notoriety.

8. Safir was appointed in 1996; Kerik in 2000.. |
|
I think Safir had a law enforcement background but not with the NYPD. I don't think he is part of the Giuliani firm but the Fire Commissioner on 9-11 (Von Essen) is.

9. But in terms of bizarre appointments.. |
|
having the current NYC fire commissioner be a career administrator (Scopetta) is a bit odder.

12. This fool wants to run for Governer of NJ. Thankfully, NJ has a |
|
residency rule that states that anyonr running for Governer should have lived in NJ for at least 8 yrs. Kerik, I guess, is in his 2nd or 3rd year.
