I hear crickets chirping...
It's too quiet. Kerry is positioned in the polls for a landslide, and it's quiet. No media scandals, no wild accusations, no razorsharp rhetoric.

This is the calm before the storm.

Rove has something big to drop, gut feeling.

4. i disagree
they would have dropped it already and then ran it into the ground.

My experience has been that whoever looks more the fool loses the election. last time it was gore (with the misrepresentations about internet, love story, etc.) this year it is definitely bush - incoherent debate performance, the bulge in the jacket, etc.

they've thrown everything at kerry already and there's nothing else left, thats obvious from the 'he called my daughter a lesbian' schoolyard crap.

5. No
For a big surprise -- character assassination or a major photo op -- you do it right before the election so the other side can't spin it.

In 2000 the Bush DUI story was dropped five days before the election.

On the other hand, maybe Rove isn't worried about polls because he knows the Diebold/BBV fix is already in?
